Topic: Been gone a while so this is just an update...
Well when I started my losing journey after having the RNY on July 20th, 2006 I was 250 and wearing a size 26/28 or 3x-5x clothes. After these past few months I am finally down 108 pounds and wearing a size 8! I fluctuate between 142-148 depending on the time of month (LOL) But this is not the end of the journey there is still more work to be done! I just want to say how appreciative I am of this website! Because of this site I was able to find a surgeon who I absolutely adore and thank god for all the time! I was able to find a positive direction and support throughout each of the steps! So thank you to all of you!

Welcome to the Century Club!
There are several people doing them on the mainboard and I believe LizzyL may be one of them. Also I remember a lady with the user name Stephanie24 (I think that is her user name) does them also. If you make a post on the mainboard about it I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. HTH!
Keep up the good work!

Congrats to you Patti! What a major milestone and I agree with you about this wonderful tool. I'm happy you were able to keep your focus and trust in the tool as well.
I know I'll never know what it is like to shop in the Juniors department (and I'm so o.k with that *L*) but what a major acheivement for you. You are doing amazing!

Topic: RE: Months wasted!
Wow. Congrats on breaking that plateau. I've been on mine for about 3 months now, down between 117 and 120. Sitll have a ton to go. I did dump in the beginning but I haven't really done that in awhile.
I have to cut out the sugary stuff again. Going out of town this weekend that should help some.
Again Congrats.
Missy

Topic: Months wasted!
Wow. I wasted months of my post-op time on a plateau of bouncing between minus 170 and minus 175 pounds.
I'm one of those most unfortunately people who do not dump. No matter how much sugar I have, I can not and will not dump. My doc told me not to drink any drinks with sugars in them (orange juice, alcohol, etc), but he said if I can handle it, sugar in solid form wouldn't hurt me too bad if I kept my calorie count low.
However, my body said "Nay nay!"
Just about every day, I would have a small sugary snack, giving in to my craving. Yeah, I know, but if it wasn't for appetite and cravings, I wouldn't have needed the surgery in the first place. So, for about the past six months, I have been on a plateau.
It depressed me a bit, but not too much, since at minus 173 pounds, I was able to move around without any pain and do most of what I used to do, such as going for long walks, mowing my own grass, etc.
On Monday night, I decided to completely lay off the sugar. I still ate how I have been eating, several times a day, eating non-sugar carbs with my food, etc. I figured it wouldn't matter much, as unless I went all out Atkins, the scale just wasn't going to move again. So, Tuesday, I didn't eat any sugar.
Lo and behold, Wednesday morning, I had dropped four pounds. The plateau from hell had been shattered!!! No sugar again on Wednesday. Got on the scale this morning, and I've dropped another three pounds! I've broken the 180 mark!!!
Morale of the story: Dumping is a BLESSING!!! If you don't dump, stay off the sugar. PERIOD!
It is good to be back in the game.

Thank you so much Jan! I knew it would definitely happen, just didn't know 'when.' Take care of you and make it a sunny day! Patti
Topic: 100 pounds gone forever!!!
This morning, I FINALLY attained the century mark, getting below 140. I knew it would happen, just didn't know when the body would reveal this amazing result of continued diligence and hard work! Have been wearing size eight petite shorts, capris, and pants, and all small tops from the juniors' departments. For the first time in my adult life, I've been immensely enjoying wearing shorts and skimpy little tops! And, I've already achieved a good natural tan!!! For each and every one of you, never give up, and never stop allowing this tool to work with you! Hugs galore, Patti
