OMGoodness Sondra....are you reading my emails?!
I just emailed my support group leader about this yesterday! My mind's eye still says I'm that pre-op girl...even though I KNOW I'm smaller. I even still do somethings as if I'm that large girl (you know the planning ahead stuff, like where to sit, what route to take so that I won't have to squeeze through anything, etc....)
My leader said that she's going to look into having someone come into our group to speak, but didn't really offer any other suggestions. Others I've heard are to look daily in the mirror and mentally say to yourself that you're smaller now. (Of course, I get fixated on the saggy skin when I do this!)
SO...not much help here other than to say....yeah, I'm there with ya.

with "identity" issues? I can still look in the mirror and see the fat girl I used to be over a year ago. I've been feeling like this off and on for a while....anyone else in the same boat as me?

Topic: RE: Does anyone have pain in left side after a year?
Sundra,
I had pain on my left side about 6 months after RNY and it turned out to be kidney stones. It was more pain than the RNY surgery. I was told that sometimes it's related and sometimes not.

Topic: RE: Does anyone have pain in left side after a year?
I just had my one year with my doc. and I had been having pain on my lower right side 2 weeks ago. This pain was sharp and would go away if I layed down for a few hours. I mention that to him and he was VERY concerned, I told him I assumed it was gas pains because it would go away after I layed down but he told me that it could be more serious, that when and if it happend again to feel were it hurt and see if there was a "small ball or lump" and if moved and "rubbed" away, I was to get a hold of him immediatly, that it was an ulcer. He felt around there at my appointment and found nothing but he was still concerned.
I don't know if it would be the same on the left side or not but I just wanted you to know.

Topic: RE: Friday Five - Weekly Update!
I love the Friday 5!
1. What types of food did you eat this week? Mexican food, protein bars, seafood, salads, fruit. I was on vacation, so the food was diff from the norm for me, but I managed to still make healthy choices.
2. What types of exercise did you do this week? Not much. Spent a lot of time in the car, plus had a cold, so other than a few walks, I'm off my exercise routine.
3. How much weight did you lose? Total loss? I don't know. I think I stayed the same.
4. What was your biggest challenge? Exercise
5. How are you with carbs at this point? Do you eat any pasta? Tried rice? What's your experience? I do eat carbs, but I try to avoid the simple ones. I did eat bread while on vacation and I have some trouble with soft breads, which I found out the hard way. I can eat a few bites of rice, but it has to have sauce or gravy on it. Otherwise, it all comes back up.
*Fun bonus question:
Do you have any pets????? If yes, what are their names/why? If not, what would you have if you could?
Yes, I have 2 cats . . . Riggs and Murtaugh. 8 years ago, I thought I got 2 male kittens and named them Riggs and Murtaugh after characters in the Lethal Weapon movies. I was looking for duos. Not long after, I discovered Murtaugh was a girl, but she was already answering to the name, so I just left it alone.

I'll have a very small piece of bread when we go to Outback on occassion but that's about it.

I don't have any pets. I haven't for quite a while because we live in an apartment. I did buy LeeLu by betta when I first came to work at Bldg Mnt, but she died after about 6 months. I still haven't touched her tank, it broke my heart. I haven't replaced her yet. I plan to get my son a dog once I buy a house.

The DR and I have talked that this is one of the reasons I've lost so much, since I've been blessed with a pouch that won't tolerate carbs, works for me, I no longer crave them either. I get all my carbs through veggies and fruit.

We have two male Great Danes - Gunner is 6 and Coal is 3, they are the sweetest guys ever, both with totally different personalities. I've loved Great Danes since I was a kid and my neighbor had them. Gunner is the one that is very, very protective of me, if a stranger approches he'll place himself between me and the stranger. I call him my bodyguard.
Have a great weekend!
