Topic: RE: Protein drink question
I just thought I'd share with you guys what my doctor told me at my one month checkup.
She told me she didn't want me to drink any more protein drinks, that I needed to get all my protein from food, and if I had a protein supplement, then protein bars were much better, in fact she thinks it's a good idea to always have one on hand in case you get yourself in a situation where there is nothing you could/should eat.
The reason for no protein drinks is your body learns it doesn't have to work as hard to get what it needs from liquids, basically all the work is done for it. This slows your metabolism down, and you loose less weight. With food the body has to work to break it down.
I know every doctor is different but this all made total sense to me. She says that since our bodies slow down with weight loss between 9-12 months post-op it's important to loose as much as possible before 9 months.
Hope this helps you ... please talk to your doctor if you have any questions, mine is wonderful and will answer anything.
She also advices no peanut butter unless you get to a point you need to gain weight!

I weigh every few days...when I remember too. I must say the first few weeks I weighed daily...but now I just don't remember too.

Topic: HELLO YOU BEAUTIFUL LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have missed you all so much, but I was coming home from school exhausted and didn't post. I have enjoyed catching up and seeing how well everyone is doing. Had 6week nutrition class today and have lost a total of 45 lbs. I have on a pair of jeans tonight that I couldn't wear before surgery and they are loose
Hope everyone is well and I will try to do better, posting. Hopefully, they will have the internet up and working next week so I can catch up while kids are practicing various sports after school!
I am headed to bed. It is 9:00 pm here and 5:00 rolls around much to quickly.
Everyone keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!

I was with you Deb, I was only going to weigh at DR. appointments. Then at a support group meeting, Dr. Davidson said they most successful WLS patients weigh daily, because then they can tell if what they are doing is working or not. I bought a scale the NEXT day, and weigh daily now. I am six weeks out today and have lost 45 lbs. Not sure how much the scale had to do with it, and how much not being able to Eat did, and going back to work 5 days after surgery.

Topic: to weight or not to weight
So, I made a conscious decision not to weigh myself too often - otherwise i'll be hoping on the scale every five minutes... i know me - obsessive and nutty. i decided to weigh myself only at doctor's appointments - so the last time i got weighted was at the ob/gyn's 8/21.
here's the problem - i'm dying to know if i lost weight... should i? should i hold out for a month and really (hopefully) get blown away or should i give in and buy a scale? what are you folks doing?
