Hi Mariah,
Perhaps, since you didn't have periods for so long, your body is now trying to sluff off all that collected on your uterine wall during that time. I was having very irregular, infrequent periods and my dr put me on Provera to induce periods. It's not healthy to not have periods, and clean the ole plumbing out, if you are in the child bearing years.
I didn't take the Provera for a month or so before and after surgery, I figured I wanted to keep all the blood I could and not become anemic prior to or shortly after surgery. I'm about 8 months out and have lost 53 or so lbs and I guess that was enough to jump start my body into having periods on it's own again.
I'm not sure if this helps any, but good luck!

Hi Debra,
I have gotten into the habit of making a protein shake in the morning to drink on my way to work since I don't care for a breadfast first thing in the morning. I put 1 cup skim milk, 2 ice cubes and a vanilla protein powder (I can't remember the name of it, but I buy it at BJ's) and whip it up in the blender. This has the added benefit of giving me around 33 grams of protein, which is a good way to start the day! Occasionally I add a teaspoon full of peanut butter, some more vanilla or cinnamon as different flavorings. This works very well for me during the week. On weekends I have have an english muffin with cheese or chicken salad. Sometimes I give in to convention and will have scrambled eggs with cheese.
Hope these suggestions help.
Keep up the good work! Trudi

Friday I had
B - 2 oz cheese
L - Gingered Carrot Soup with some Oyster Crackers and a few cubes of watermelon
D - Minestrone Soup
S - Sugar Free Popcicle
2 vials of New Whey Liquid Protein in between meals
I'm bad about keeping track of how much I'm getting in....I was probably low on my protein, but I'm trying to eat more veggies and fruit and get my protein in with the drinks.

Debra-
This may not be the greatest, but since I hate mornings and needed something to grab on the way out the door I've been eating a protein bar. I figured it was helping me with my protein and filling my tummy for breakfast.
I've not tried nearly the variety you have though....bacon sounds wonderful....

Mariah-
I've had 2 in the last 6 weeks also...and I had my normal cycle the week before surgery. I think the second one I had was breakthrough bleeding more than a full cycle (during ovulation).
I'm chalking it up to the massive amounts of horomones that our bodies are having to deal with due to rapid weight loss. I was told I could go back on my birth control pills after a month, but they gave me the worst kind of headache so I went back to explore more options. Basically, I was told that if I didn't want hormonal treatments that there weren't many options (I was more concerned about pregnancy than the extra periods though).
SO..I'm with you...hoping that they regulate on their own. You may find more help from your local board where there are long-term post-ops who can tell you there experience further out.
In the meantime...stock up on those supplies!

I am having a hard time finding anything to eat for breakfast. I am sick of eggs, hate oatmeal and cream of wheat, cold cereal. Peanut butter toast makes my blood sugar do wacky things and I really don't like eating bread anyway. So what is left? Bacon makes me too thirsty and since we can't drink for 40 minutes after eating, it is like torture when I eat it. Sausage links were just too fatty. I have been eating cheese, cheese and more cheese for breakfast and need some variety. I am eight weeks out from RNY. Thanks for the ideas!

Is anyone having excessive periods since having surgery? I have had alot of minor problems. When I was gaining wt and pre surgery I stopped having a period after I passed about 350 lbs. So for a yr I didnt have one. I didnt realize this was a problem. To me it was great not having to mess with it.
Now... I had surgery on July 12. Had my first period on the 14th, then again on the 25th, then again on Aug 8 and then for a fourth time on Aug 29th. I called my gyn and told him and he gave me 4 different options I could pick from. One was hormones, birth control pills and one was another pill and the forth was surgery....
My questions is has anyone else experienced any of this? If so have u dont anything about it. I was just hoping it would regulate itself all on its own...but so far it hasnt.
Right now I still feel great...cramping is worse than I ever remembered pre surgery but Im still loosing wt and feeling very healthy. Just dont know what to do.
