Topic: RE: 1st 5 of 101 reasons why!
Hi Sandy,
Keep posting the reasons.
I agree with all listed. For me it is not about wearing a bikini, (however, I wouldn't mind that too) it is about feeling healthy and living a longer life.
They say you love your grandchildren more than your own children. This is a saying that I find very hard to believe, but I want to be here and to be here healthy to experience this. I want to be able to take them shopping, on vacations, to the theatare and whatever else their hearts desire!
My mother loves my children but because of her being morbidly obese, she is very limited in what she can do with them. I am happy that she is in their lives, but wish she could've had the surgery to help her life as well.

Topic: RE: protein shakes
Hi Kathi,
I have tried a few and found that the one I like the best is Designer Protein, especially in vanilla. I make a smoothie every morning with 4 ounces of orange juice, the protein powder, a teaspoonful of Splenda, either a chunk of frozen banana or pineapple and a bit of vanilla. It gives me 25 grams of protein and a serving of fruit!! It's also great with 6 ozs of skim milk, Splenda, a couple of ice cubes and either vanilla or almond flavoring. The milk adds 6 grams of protein for a whopping big 33 grams to start the day!
You can order Designer Protein online or get it at BJ's Wholesale Club if you have one near you.
Take care and best wishes - Trudi
Topic: RE: Anyone else slow loser like me?
Yeppers, I feel like a slow loser, but it's 30 lbs since 7.10.06, so that's not too bad according to my dietician.
Hope all are doing well!

Topic: RE: Any post-ops near Sacramento, CA??
Yeah, I have tried that and unfortunately there are no support groups close to Sacramento , other than through my surgeons office. They only get together once a month and at a really tough time of day. I was also hoping to find more people closer to my surgery date. Hopefully I will get some responses. Thanks.

Try checking out the Cali board, once a week someone posts cali support groups and i'm sure there are several post opps near you
Topic: RE: where are all my july31'st bandsters?
Glad you are doing so well!!! I'm a lil slow going, 30 lbs, but also lost 30lbs before surgery. Am loving it too, just wi**** would be a lil quicker....

25 lbs since 7/26/06. I am a slow loser but I think it might be a good thing.
Topic: RE: Friday Five...weekly update
1. What types of food did you eat this week?
Wendy's Chili, Beef Jerky, Fajita Chicken, almonds, and mozerella cheese sticks. I was also able to finally drink my protein with Unjury Unflavored and 8oz of skim milk= 28 grams of protein!
2. What types of exercise did you do this week?
Walked 2.2 miles one evening but unable to the rest of the week. Snuck in some dancing and floor exercises in the house due to the rain, though.
3. How much weight did you lose? Total loss?
I'm on a bit of a stall, loss was about two pounds this week. I'll take it! Total loss so far now is 31 pounds since July.
4. What was your biggest challenge?
Getting in my protein and water. I am finally figuring it out, which I guess is normal for people about 7 weeks out. Trial and error and getting to know your new stomach is a lot more challanging than people think!
5. Is there a food you eat now that you wouldn't eat before?
I would never drink milk before. Now I look forward to my cup of skim milk w/protein.
*Fun bonus question:
What is one thing you want for Yule/Solstice?
A weight bench.

I had my surgery on 7/31/06 and have only lost 27 lbs. I work out, but I was told to eat more. I am definitely trying. I will not give up and I have put away my scale. I think my scale is a mood scale, it weighs whatever its mood is.
