Topic: Two Month Update
All-
I just added this to my profile. Thought I'd share with all of you too.
~*~*~*~*
Here are my measurements as of Sept. 19 (two month):
Weight Loss: 15 lbs (Total: 41 lbs)
Measurements:
Neck: No change (Total: -.25 inch)
Upperarms: No change (Total: -1.5 inches)
Wrist: No change (Total: -0.5 inch)
Bust: -4 inches, under -2.5 inches (Total: 5.25 inches, under 5.25 inches)
Waist: -1.75 inches (Total: 4.25 inches)
Hips: -2 inches (Total: 3 inches)
Thighs: -2.25 inches (Total: 4.75 inches)
Calves: -0.5 inch (Total: 2.75 inches)
Ankles: No change (Total: -0.5 inch)
I'm feeling good. Clothes are starting to be baggy, so I'm dipping into my "skinnier" clothes. Eating has become a bit easier although I've run into some trial and error. Seems that leftovers or overly processed foods don't sit well with Priscilla (my pouch/stomach). I just started to work out for 30+ minutes every day which has been SO motivating! I'm amazed at how quickly my mind has changed (towards the positive) about exercise!!
My husband has been really supportive. He's so encouraging and always looking out for me. He's still struggling a bit with offering me things I shouldn't eat (stop offering choc. chips please!!!), but I think it's a habit he's working on breaking. Our intimate life has improved. I'm amazed at what the weight and extra inches were causing me to miss out on. He's the same guy doing the same things it's just a totally different experience (for the better!) already! We both can't imagine/wait for when I'm at goal!!!
Until next time!

Aloha...I new here, but I'll give this a try.
What types of foods this week? Protein shakes, papaya, cottage cheese, salad with chicken, nuts, feta cheese, sugarfree ice cream, south beach diet sandwich wrap (first time yesterday), chicken.
Exercise? Three times in a large Olympic pool..walking, jogging, using delta bells for arm exercises
Biggest challenge? Scale not budging all week!
No desserts with splenda yet, but I would LOVE to have a cheesecake recipe using splenda!
Plans for Halloween? My kids are coming from the mainland.....my son, DIL and my two new grandbabies, 8 months and 27 months. Maui has BIG Halloween celebrations....bigger even than Christmas.
Aloha,
KarenS

You are so correct on the vitamins. I take a muti vit with each meal and a calcium inbetween each meal. I take a b complex 2-3 times a week.
Where I had my surgery we spent an entire day in classes telling us how to take our vit and what to take with what. Its very important to take them as directed. I have recently found out from all the emails I receive from fellow losers that they didnt get any teaching...just had surgery and were sent home. So the reason I was posting was to answer some of the questions ppl had been asking me. I hope this helps ppl I didnt mean it to hurt anyones feelings just to share some tips if ppl want to use them fine and if they dont fine. I wish everyone the best of luck in this journey

Aloha Christina.....Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. Where are the "lightweight forums?" I don't know if I'm lightweight or not....sure doesn't seem like it. I started out at 319 and am now at 286, 8 weeks from surgery.
I'm glad to hear that you lose in chunks. That seems to be the pattern that I'm looking at too. First few weeks it was a pound a day...and oh so happy to get on that scale. Now, it's the same every day......and then the discouragement.
I appreciate your good words and advice.
Aloha,
Karen

Karen-
Congrats on taking the step like the rest of us and getting the tool. After a quick look at your profile it seems like you may have started as a lightweight (although you don't mention your weight anywhere). If that's the case you may want to check in with the lightweight forums to see if your progress is in step with some of them.
Keep in mind though that we all lose at different rates and the main thing is that you're making the right choices (protein, water, exercise) and you're regaining your health! It's not a race, it's a journey! Just as an "I can identify"...I tend to lose in chunks, not steady. I go for a week or two at the same weight and then wake up one morning to the scale moving a few pounds....at first disheartening, but now, expected. Just find what you're body's system is and work it.
Keep up the good work and you'll get the results you want!

Topic: Ups & downs, goods & bads....
Aloha from Hawaii my July WLS friends! Well, I just found this July group, and I'm delighted. My surgery was July 26th in Honolulu, and I've been so very lucky in not having any trouble with eating/drinking, etc. However, when I read some of your amazing weight loss, I feel rather badly because I've only lost 33 lbs. so far, and have been at that for a couple of weeks.
I'm eating right I think. Have around 85 grams of protein a day, 85 oz. of water, and I exercise. I'm now eating salads, and yesterday tried a South Beach Diet sandwich wrap which went down fine. I think I'm getting around 750 calories a day and I should be losing much more it seems to me. I have to quit comparing my loss to others...it can bum me out. I have to be thankful for no problems, and that I now have this awesome tool that will eventually get me back to my healthy weight.
I am so happy to meet you all! We are on quite an adventure together.
Aloha nui loa,

Topic: RE: Anyone else stuck?
Yes, I am at a stall as well. I've been at 217-216 for a week now and I'm NOT struggling with my period. WHen I did end my period... I lost 6 lbs almost overnight, so don't sweat that. I weighed 220 for quite a few years and I think that's a plateau weight for my body. I'm fighting it though and once I break through that magic number, I'm confident I'll see the scale start going down again!
I only weigh myself on Friday mornings... that's it. THe only exception was on my 2 month mark earlier this week and I wanted an official number for that date. THis keeps me from getting upset over a lb here and a lb there. I want to see 3-4 lbs (or more) at a time, so the weekly weighing is much better! I can't say I'm not tempted at times but I talk myself out of it.
Good luck and hang in there!

1. What types of food did you eat this week? Roasted Garlic Chicken, French Bread Pizza (basically tomato sauce, cheese and pineapple on a piece of french bread - baked in the oven), taco meat/cheese, broiled chicken with mashed potatoes. I'm having a hard time with breakfast. I can't stand eggs and don't know what else to do for protein in the morning. I can eat oatmeal and toast, but that's all carbs...
2. What types of exercise did you do this week? Walking mostly... going to start lifting weights next week.
3. How much weight did you lose? Total loss? Just 1 lb this week. Total loss of 46 lbs since surgery on July 19.
4. What was your biggest challenge? Fatigue.... can't shake it this week. It's been a long week with volleyball games, helping students, not getting home until 8-9pm every night. I'm switching to vitamins once per day instead of hte 3x/day chewables. I think that will help. My back has been hurting a LOT also... not sure why.
5. Have you made/eaten a dessert with Splenda? Can you share the receipe? No, I haven't had anything with splenda. I drink my crystal light which has artificial sweetners but no desserts.
*Fun bonus question:
What are you plans for Halloween? Probably hang out at home, rest and pass out "treats" to the neighborhood kids. I live in a very small town, close-knit community so it's fun seeing the kids all dressed up!
Topic: RE: I'm baack!! Update
I have tried the vials and they go down great but after a minute or two, they come right back up. Anything highly rich in protein (i.e. protein drinks, shakes, etc.) makes me nauseated. I'm managing fairly well though. I eat a lot of chicken and get a lot of protein in. I will definitely work on the vitamins as I think that IS the key to getting more energy.
Thanks for the advice!!
Topic: RE: I have a stricture.
Hi Diana,
I developed a stricture at 4 weeks post-op. The procedure is an easy one, worst part for me was the IV! They put you out and it takes about a half hour. I woke up back in my room, and as soon as I was able to get up and get dressed I got to go home. You wake up very quickly too. The gas ia a bit uncomfortable, but once you pass it you'll be fine.
I did have to go back two weeks later and have it stretched again, but knew what to expect.
Best wishes to you.
