Karen, I started out weighting alot more than u did and thats why Im loosing wt so fast in the beginning. I wt almost 400 lbs. I also had a lap RNY...The type of procedure u have can make a difference. I will tell u how I eat...I dont keep a journal so I wont have exact foods but I can give u an idea. Here goes When I get up I drink an Atkins protein drink. That takes me about an hr to drink the entire can. I often drink half then shower and then drink the other half. Then I follow that with a 3 oz breakfast...usually just cottage cheese and apple sauce...usually two days a week I eat out with my husband and I'll have one egg over med with 1 sauage patty...That fills me up. I have a snack of cheese before lunch..usually Sargentos colby cheese stick (other snacks have been dried apple chips, pork rinds, fresh fruit. Only one oz of food at this time. I will also have a profect protein drink. For lunch I again will have 2 oz of protein and 1 oz of some veggie low glycemic of course. Then in the afternoon I have another cheese stick and another protein drink...Usually not at the same time..about an hr apart. Dinner is the same as lunch...2 oz of protein and 1 oz of a low glycemic veggie. Then some nights I'll have another snack before bed...yes u guessed it..another cheese stick or some apple sauce or some apple juice. I buy everything sugar free...such as the apple sauce ect. I dont worry about the fat...I try to choose lower fat choices but i dont do that with my cheese... but say Im having pepperoni chips I try to buy turkey rather than the real thing but if they dont have turkey I buy the real thing. I have had chicken, turkey, limited pork, and I just started having steak last week and Ive had no problem with it. I also had my first salad this week without any problems. I dont eat bread, flour, potatos or sugar...I have also avoided sugar and sugar subs. Splenda is in my apple sauce but I think thats about it and last sunday I did have a crystal light lemonaid(with splenda). It was really good so I may on occasion do that again. I dont drink any soda, coffee or tea. Only water and protein and skim milk are my main fluids.... I have also had limited OJ, apple juice and tomato juice. When I have juice it has to be 100 percent real juice no added sugar. I hope this helps...If u have any more questions please feel free to ask...This is following the guidelines my dr gave me. Your dr might not approve this. I eat and I have high energy. I am also going to the gym and my husband and I have been doing alot of mall walking. Ohh and dont forget all the vitamin popping we all do.

I had my surgery on 7/7/06 and I'm down 46 lbs as of Friday so I'm 11 weeks out I guess. I am a light weight. Your intake sounds a lot like mine. Definitely watch the carbs but it looks like your doing great. Maybe you should check out the lighweight forum as we do tend to lose a lot slower. I look at my loss, not only in pounds but in percentage of excess. I'm nearing 50% of my excess weight.

Thank you so much for your good words and thoughts. It really does help to know that someone else is going through what I am at the same time. I know exactly what you are saying when you needed to stay away from forums because everyone was doing so much better and it was hard to compare results. I am going to call my nut today and see what she has to say. I'm guessing that she'll say I'm doing fine and to maybe UP my calories which goes so against my gut level feeling, but maybe it's a lesson I need to learn. Your support is greatly appreciated. When you have a stricture nothing that goes down wants to stay down ... or nothing will go down. It's not usually a morning only thing. Jan

Hey, Karen I've been in the same boat. The weight is not coming off anywhere as quickly as I would like, and I get frustrated at seeing all the people talking about how much weight they are losing, or how fast their sizes are changing. I've even had to make myself avoid the boards for days at a time because it gets too depressing. I had a three week stall, and when it started moving again, it started moving SLOWLY - not the drop in pounds I had hoped for. But the reality is that we really HAVE lost a reasonable amount for this amount of time. It is just that it all happened in the beginning instead of a little bit at a time. It is discouraging to see the scale not move, but if you average out your weight loss by week, it is not really all that bad. Of course, if things were on MY schedule, it would have been: Surgery July 11th Goal August 11th Plastics Sept 11th Perfect energy/health/recovery: September 12th But somehow that does not seem to be the way it is going! I've had a different kind of surgery than you so this may not be good advice to follow, but maybe you are eating TOO little? How about your liquid intake, how much are you drinking? Try to focus on doing things that make you feel good and healthy, and try to stay away from the scale as much as possible. The weight WILL move. Jezia

Aloha Mariah....Wow, you are doing extraordinarily good! I am so happy for you. I feel frustrated and unhappy with my progress when I see how well you have done. I have only lost 34 lbs. since July 26th, and have been stuck at that weight for over three weeks. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please tell me what you are eating on a daily basis. I have to figure out what to change so that I can get past this place on the scale. It's driving me nuts! I go to see my surgeon next month on the 26th of Oct. which will be my official three month date, but I'm guessing that I won't even be at 40 lbs. lost...and you are looking at 100! Sigh. Keep up the fantastic work! It encourages me to know that it is possible to lose the kind of weight that you are. Aloha nui loa, Karen S.

Aloha my WLS friends. This morning when I got on the scale and yet again saw the same number I have seen for the past 3.5 weeks, I officially blew my top! I have been so diligent in getting in my protein, water and vitamins every day, and have even added exercise in the pool three times a week, and nadda! I don't get more than 800 calories a day and no sugar, no bread, no pasta....just protein shakes, salads with chicken, yogurt, fish, beans, etc. I don't know what to do. A friend has suggested I go back on full liquid diet for a week or two, and I'm seriously considering that to break this plateau. I would deeply appreciate hearing any suggestions, similar concerns or information that might help me get through this hurdle. KarenS P.S. I'm 5'11" tall, started out at surgery at 319, and am down to 285....34 lbs. and that has been the same for 3 weeks. This seems way too early to be stuck!
