Topic: RE: Officially frustrated and stuck!
I had surgery on 7/31 and as of today when I went to see my surgeon I have only lost 35 lbs. I exercise at least 3 times a week and I don't overeat or eat bad foods. I am especially good about not eating a lot of carbs because I am diabetic and have been off all meds. since surgery! Chocolate used to be my weakness, but I haven't even wanted any since surgery....which has amazed me...It's pretty frustrating......I know exactly where you are coming from......

Hi Mariah!
I knew ahead of time that I would go through a period of time after the surgery where I had been through ALL that pain and distress, was not feeling fully recovered, and was STILL FAT. I spent SO much time and attention on getting ready for the surgery, learning about it, reading stuff, going to meetings, talking to people . . . The couple of months after surgery, when the initial "recovery" stage is past, HAD to be tough. But even though I expected it to happen, it has still been a B**CH to go through! This week is the first time in a while I have felt better, I sure hope it continues!
Things WILL get better for us; unfortunately, we have to wait while that happens . . .

Im just glad to be able to help. Its funny, now when I see someone that cant get around I want to go give them my surgeons card and tell them there is help. Havent done it yet....LOL
I just didnt know for some many yrs that help was out there. Help that would really work and not some diet pill that would cost my entire paycheck and then not produce what they said it would.
Im finally living again and Im so excited to share the good news. God has blessed me with this tool and Im willing to help anyone I can.

Aloha again Mariah...I just got back on my computer and have read everything everyone has said, and WOW what great information! I am going to check out the site that you posted with phases, etc.
Tonight I added some yogurt with some FiberOne stirred in to my daily intake, thinking maybe I wasn't getting enough calories and my metabolism has shut down on me. We'll see if that helps jumpstart the weight loss.
Thank you so much for your detailed descriptions........most definitely appreciated. Keep up your fabulous work...you are an inspiration!
Aloha nui loa,

Do what your surgeon says, but I was told that I could try what I wanted once I hit the six week mark. I had surgery on 7/31 and I eat Wendy's chili, boiled eggs, a little wheat toast (1/4 of a slice), salad, sliced pickles, protein bars, lots of cheese, lots of chicken, I had a hamburger one day minus the bun, but with cheese and dipped in mustard, Taco Bell refried beans, a little watermelon, green beans, cooked cabbage, peas. My favorite thing thus far is the salad...after purees I really craved something crunchy and I have been on a salad kick lately! I eat it with lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, onions, green peppers, pickles, and put chicken on top. I think I am also going to try cutting up some boiled egg and adding that as well for extra protein. Good luck! Monique

Ok...u have finally stumped me. I dont really time my meals on a set schedule like I did in the first month when I was off work. I would say...on my days off Ive noticed I cant go more than 3 hrs without eating something. I get very hungry about 3 hrs out.
I would say I go about 2-3 hrs after a meal and drink my profect...then maybe 30 min later eat my snack ...usually cheese stick...and then 2 -3hrs later have a meal again.
(Ive noticed I spend more time eating now than before surgery).
That would leave about 5 hrs between each meal... So for a normal day shift person who can have breakfast at 7 am and lunch at noon...can still have dinner about 5 or 6
This shows how important that snack is to keep our metabolism going. We cant eat enough at one meal to keep us going 5-6 hrs without that snack.
I get up at about 2 pm. most days. drink protein...takes an hr to drink... wait 30 min. eat breakfast over 30 min. that brings me to about 4 pm. about 6pm Im having my profect and before 7 Ive had my snack. I have lunch about 9pm-9:30. I go to work at 1030 pm. I have a protein about 11:30... then a snack. Supper is at 2:30 -3 am
My last snack is at 5:30 if Im going to the gym. If Im going home to bed I sometimes dont eat a snack at this time. ...and at 6:30 I head home......If I head to the gym after work.... Then home to bed by 8:30 am and the next day I may not get up till 3 or 4pm. So that gets my eating off....thats why my time of meals changes everyday. Good thing I dont have kids to feed on a set schedule. All my animals get fed on my schedule and they never complain...LOL

Mariah,
Agreeing with the words of others, I think you've been very helpful. I am open to any suggestions if it's gonna assist me with the weight loss. I really look forward to this board because other boards just don't seem to be as active. I hope that we can continue to encourage one another becasue we all need it. I hope to follow the time schedule as far as how you eat. I work 8-5 in an OB-GYN office and it's hectic once we start clinic. But, I've got to make time for me. Personally, I want to get rid of the three....I need to see 299 at least. I hope to be 215 by Christmas. Gotta try to eat right and begin exercising consistently. This post goes out to all those who've stalled. Keep your heads up and show everyone that we are and will shed these unwanted pounds.
