Topic: RE: 3 Months here we come!
You and I had surgery on the same date. I am down 86 pounds since surgery and 104 pounds down since the first time I met with the surgeon on May 5, 2006. Of course, I likely had more to lose than you so that may explain some of my accelerated loss. Even though you are going "slower" it sounds like you're still doing great. Keep up the good work and keep in touch.

Well it is getting close to 3 months, how is veryone doing? I am really going slow, I think, I will hit 3 months on the 11th and I am currently down 52lbs. I am not sure if that is good or not so I though I would check in and see where other July people are at.

Topic: RE: TROUBLE EATING ANYTHING
Hey Michelle,
My DR did tell me that nausea usually comes with eating too fast or too much, so I tried to slow down quite a bit and eat less. (How much less can we really eat?)
I developed a stricture at 4 weeks post-op and think you need to be checked out! I could eat a little of something and anywhere within 5 minutes to an hour afterward I was throwing it up. It was very hard to even keep fluids down.
I had two endoscopy's (two weeks apart) to stretch the stoma and felt much better after having it done.
Don't let a nurse tell you to eat more when you can't keep what you eat down! Push this issue.

It could be a stricture. Get yourself checked.
Yeah, I get sick a lot too. Probably about once a day... although I think mine is because I eat too much as I am not always paying attention when I eat.

Thanks. As a % towards goal, I'm about right where you are, which is excellent.

Thanks for this Kim!
Best thing I purchased after surgery was a food scale. Now I can keep an accurate accounting of the serving size and protein/calories in each. Its been a huge help.

Are you having trouble with just food or with liquids as well? If it is just food I would say your pouch is just very sensitive and you have to find something it likes and stick to it for a while. If it is both food and liquid it could be a stricture. Either way you should call your Dr. and tell Them what has been going on. Your Dr. is the only one who can really tell you what is going on.
Keep us posted on how your doing, I hope you feel better soon!!

You're very welcome!!! And thanks for the compliment, I think she did a really good job on my hair. I was scared to read this at first, hehe. Thanks for taking the time to fill out the surveys, I really enjoy reading what everyone is doing as well. Have a good week,

Hi Michele. I had symptoms similar to your's a short time ago. I would eat just a few bites, or drink just a little bit and would have pain in the center of my tummy area, just below the bra line. I had a stricture that required endoscopy with dilation by my surgeon. At the time, I was 2 months postop. If you have difficulty keeping any food or fluids down, it is time to call the doc. It may be just a sensitivity thing, or could be something to have the doc take a closer look into. Don't mean to scare you, but it is WAY better to be safe than sorry. BTW, I feel much better after stricture repair. It is like, why did I wait so long????
Good luck, let us know what happens.
