Topic: RE: 3 Months here we come!
Hi karen, we are surgery buddies and I want to let you know that we are in the same situation. I lost 15 before surgery and 38 since surgery. I have just recently lost 2 pounds before that I was stuck at 36 too. I eat about the same # of calories as you. I was feeling really bad but since I came to the July board I feel like I am pretty average with every one else. I go back to the doc on the 26th and he is expecting me to have lost 18-24 pounds but I am not sure if it will happen or not. I am sick to death of worrying about it though I can tell you that much.

Don't be discouraged! We're all different and some of us have WAY more to loose than others!
I started off at 374lb!

Topic: RE: Anyone getting a flu shot?
Definitely yes. I have multiple sclerosis (immune system is already busy trying to attack central nervous system), plus with RNY surgery 7/25/06 (51 lb ago). Today I spoke with a nurse at my primary doctor's clinic who supported my feeling there is no reason NOT to get the influenza shot, and especially having had surgery, that it's even more important to get one. My opinion (again, just my opinion) is we should all get one, especially because the last thing any of us needs is to get influenza, which would be much more severe than a stomach flu bug which usually goes around once or twice during fall/winter.

I think a lot of people have unreal expectations, but your doing a wonderful job and need to remember you didn't put it on nearly as fast as your loosing it!

Well my surgical anniversary is oct. 20th (rny on 7/20) to date I have lost 45 lbs. I started out at 250 and I currently weigh 205. I often worry if I am losing "enough" Or am I doing this "right". I guess it is what it is and I am very greatful it could have been a gain instead of a loss. Congrats to everyone on their losses!
Topic: Just not seeing it.
Yesterday, I had the pictures from our vacation developed. At the time they were taken, I was down 100 pounds from my pre-op weight. I looked at some compared to my "before" pictures. I'm sorry, but I see no difference. The wife says it is plain as day to her, but not to me. I just see the same useless blob of fat in both pictures.
Anyway, I just got back from the doctors, expecting to be berated for my lack of weightloss between now and my appointment two months ago, but the Dr. said he is completely happy with it (50 pounds lost), and to keep doing exactly what I'm doing. My attitude was "50 pounds? That's it???"
I guess I have unreal expectations. Anyway, "The Deep Depression(tm)" has set in.

Aloha Jezia....I'm with you! I read these posts and I feel so discouraged. I had surgery on July 26th, and I'm only down 36 lbs. I have been at 35/36 pounds for almost a month now, and I just don't get it. I'm exercising, and I only eat around 750 calories a day in all the right foods. I get in my protein, my vitamins, my calcium...what more can we do??
Big sigh!
Aloha,
KarenS
