I was 3 months on the 10th. I had a dr appt today and I have lost 67 pounds. I asked him about the differences in weight loss and he said that everyone is different, but a rule of thumb is 10 pounds a month. I think I have done great. I do not weigh anymore either. It was driving me crazy. Good luck to us all.

Tamie: You are setting yourself up for heartache if you get hung up on the scale and how much weight you have lost. One person is 350 lbs. at the onset and 5'9" tall and 30 years old and loses a lot of weight at the onset due to the amount of fat the body has stored, along with water. Another person is 250 lbs. at the onset and 5'5" and 50 years old and loses less weight in the same amount of time. They are both successful in their journey. This is a journey not a destination. You can weight 150 lbs. and be a size 8 and weigh 150 lbs. and be a size 14. Different body types, different fat ratio, different muscle mass, age, diet, environment, etc. I threw the scale out the window a month before surgery. I am watching my clothes hang off my body instead of being stuffed into them like a fat sausage that I was. I am wearing a size 10 jeans and a medium top - and I look goooooooooooood!!!! Halleluyah!! My jacket that I wear to the gym each day is so big that it looks silly. HOORAY! My spine is showing on my back and ribs are showing already. I am 3 months post-op and have only allowed myself to be weighed at the doctor's office. As of October 10, 2006 I have lost 54 lbs. WOW!! BUT THE REAL WONDER IS THAT YOU, ME, EVERYBODY ON HERE IS TAKING CONTROL OVER FOOD AND EXERCISE AND HEALTH IN OUR LIVES ONCE AND FOR ALL. THAT LITTLE "TOOL" that we have now is showing us the way to a healthier existence with good eating habits and exercise regimes. YOU ARE A WINNER NO MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW YOU LOSE POUNDS, INCHES, WHATEVER. THE BIG QUESTION IS HOW DO YOU FEEL?? I FEEL FANTASTIC.... BEST THING I HAVE DONE FOR MYSELF EVER! I leveled the playing field just like a normal weight, naturally trim person. Heck, maybe better, I eat a balanced, healthy diet and exercise every day. My labs were great for 12 weeks and I have energy to burn. I am a grandmother and a lawyer and a wife and a daughter, a sister, a friend... but FIRST I AM TRUE TO ME AND THIS JOURNEY - W.I.T. (WHATEVER IT TAKES) for however long it takes... ShelleyAnne

I cannot believe you guys. Don't be in such a rush to lose it so quickly. 50 pounds in 3 months is awesome! You didn't gain it overnight and you wouldn't have lost it overnight. Ask yourself this question...would you have lost 50 pounds in 3 months without the surgery? Probably not. So give yourself a pat on the back and feel blessed! I must say that I am 11 weeks post-op and I've lost 30 pounds and feel truly blessed! I'm losing a healthy average of about 2.5-3 per week. I've picked up great eating habits and I'm working out like I never have before. Remember the important things, guys! Have a blessed day.

Hi Tami, I was 3 month post op as of yesterday surgery date 7-17-06, and I'm now down 79lb! Tomorrow is my 3 month Dr's appointment. It's been a rough road, with a few twists and complications, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat to lose this much weight! Best wishes to you! Jan

Hi, I had my surgery on July 10, 2006 I started at 262 and 258 day of surgery. I am now at 196 which is a total of 66 pounds! I also didn't think it was enough, But my doc told me it was great for my starting weight. He said the more you weigh the more you will lose quickly in the begining so I try to look at those who were about the same weight and had surgery around same time as me. So when I see post where people who have had their surgery close to mine I always like to know what they started out at when I see they lost more than I have. I guess we all just want it to drop off. I know I do lol but its just not happening. SundraP

Hi Tamie I had my surgery on July 12th, and to date I have lost 50 pounds. That's not a whole lot,but I hear that you want to lose it slow I have gone down 2 pant sizes and I feel great. I read the different profiles of people who had surgery on the same day OR after mine and they have lost a LOT I just try to remember that we are all different. I feel like I am not doing the WLS thingy very good either. I don't get to exercise like I should due to my knees, ankles and feet.I hope by the time December gets here I have lost another 50....but if not,I will continue on doing what I have been doing. Hang in there....WE WILL LOSE!!!!!!!!! Barbara
