Topic: 100 Pound Milestone
I weighed Tuesday morning and my scale gave me some very good news. I have now lost 100 pounds since my surgery date on 7/11/06 and a total of 118 pounds since I saw the surgeon for the first time on 5/5/06. I am so happy to have done this and I wish Oprah would drag her butt out here and talk to me about how bad this is. Everyone keep up the good work. Scott

Hi Tamie! We share a surgery date, and I've lost 139 pounds; I'm a bit depressed that I'm only losing 10 pounds a week, though. Just kidding! On both counts! I just wanted to echo the sentiment that it's about walking the path, not racing down it. Every -body- is different, so make sure yours is getting the best opportunities it can to be well! I think you should be patting yourself on the back for every positive choice you make. The WLS was a big positive choice, but every good meal, every bit of exercise, every glass of water...

You didn't mention whether you were getting in your water and vitamins. Especially with the constipation, I'd bet you need to get in more water.

I felt the same way and if she said "fat" one more time I think I may have thrown something at the TV--it sure was a negative show. I was glad to here Carnie make the statement that WLS does not make you an alcoholic or give you addiction and that she has had many different addictions along w/ being addicted to food and now alcohol. It was not a very good depiction of those who have chosen to have the surgery. Especially when she commented that it was a "quick fix" to being "fat"!

Yes, it wasn't very fair. She addressed a definate concern with people transferring their food addiction to drugs, alcohol, sex etc. & how alot of treatment centres are treating Gastric Bypass patients. But.... the way she showed the stomache the size of a walnut, sure that's true for the first short period immediately after surgery, but she didn't mention that it does stretch & she didn't mention how many people have had their lives improve 110%, she didn't mention all of the total success stories ! She is obviously biased & as I think it was a good idea to bring this issue to light, it really wasn't a fair dipiction of the average person who has had Gastric Bypass. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. Hugs, Heather
