It definately gets better!! Takes awhile though. The protien is very important, so for me... I drank my high protien powder drink 2X a day. The nausea took just over a month to go away & I had to add flavour to my water & it still was uncomfortable going in. I was VERY frustrated the first 2 months, but when you stsrt to feel FANTASTIC & see the HUGE results you will know that it was all worth it! Hang in there, you will feel better. I have never felt better in my entire life!!

Topic: RE: More surgery for me ...
Hi Jan,
I'm like you! I'm having to have my gallbladder out as well. They were also unable to get mine when I had my surgery. I'm going to have mine out on the 17th of this month. My Doctor has told me that I can go back to work on Monday November 20th. The reason I can go back to work is because I work in a office and do not heavy lifting. I hope that everything comes out well for you. Take care

Hunger comes and goes... don't worry about getting in all your protein in, it will happen! BE SURE TO JOURNAL YOUR FOOD INTAKE!! I can think that I'm eating enough, or that I've gotten enough protein, but WRONG! If you have Excel, and want me to send you my food journal, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send it.

I had a really hard time with water at first. I ended up eating a lot of sugar free popsicles and I loved ice chips....they went down a lot better at first for some reason. I also would use my blender to chop up sugar free popsicles until they were like ice chips. It was my favorite thing post op. Don't worry you will be eating more before you know it. My nutritionist told me when I was feeling the same way that I shouldn't worry so much about it and just enjoy not feeling hungry for once.....because eventually you will regain your appetite.....

Hi Tamara,
You are doing great!
I also had my surgery on 7/31/06 and I have lost 60 lbs. More importantly, I am sleeping through the night, able to climb the stairs without breathing heavily, fitting in 2 sizes smaller, and CROSSING MY LEGS! 3 months ago, these where huge tasks.
Keep up the great job!

If you're slow, so am I! My surgery was 7-19-06 and as of this morning I've lost 69 pounds. I started at 361 and am 5'6. I think we're doing fine though....and we're hitting that 3 month stall...so stay strong.

Mel-
It will get better!
I'm just now starting to hit a good stride where I want to eat again....I still don't feel hungry though. The nausea will go away from surgery, but I still get nausated every now and then with certain foods...just trial and error.
As for getting in water....work up to it. Keep trying, keep doing your best...your doctor and/or nutritionist will be your best friends for questions.
