Topic: RE: Do you still have discomfort when eating?
This is an uncomfortable feeling when I start eating, during eating, etc. I usually stop before I get full.

Topic: RE: Stuck
I've been stuck at 334 for the past 3.5 weeks! I am going crazy! Surprisingly, I ate a few too many carbs yesterday, and am down a lb. this morning. I'm thinking I may not have been eating ENOUGH lately! Good luck moving past this.

For me when I got up to a certian wt I just was in denile about how much I was gaining. I too stopped looking in a mirror....so the picture in my head was the old me. I was feeling worse and worse but...I still had in my head an image of me at 250 lbs...not the 390 I had become. Now I have lost 100 lbs and Im starting to look in the mirror. Well to me Im still larger than that 250 lb person I last saw in the mirror. Well my WOW moment happened this weekend when my husband was cleaning out our Florida room and storing some things in the basement. He found a box of old pictures of me from before I had ever met him. He was looking at pics of my best friend and I from college. He brought them to me and wanted to know how much I wt in them and how old I was. Well I was about 220 in the pics....but my face actually looks thinner now. I was so amazed. Yes I look older(that was 20 yrs ago) but it was amazing how round my face was even at that wt. Today my face is much thinner at 290. So get out your before pics and take some now pics in that same position... When u comepare them its just amazing the differences you can see. Notice your arms and your chin and neck. In my old pics...I didnt even have a neck. I went from my chin to my chest with gross fat. Now its gone. Its just amazing!!!!

Topic: Do you still have discomfort when eating?
I have had two EGDs and they have helped tremendously, but I'm still having discomfort when eating. Yes I take small bites and yes I chew very well. Is this normal? I'm 4 months out and I still dread the thought of eating because of the discomfort. Please tell me if anyone else is having this same issue 4 months out.

1. Surgery date: July 26, 2006 2. Lbs. lost: 66 pounds 3. Main source of protein: Eggs, Chicken, Yogurt, Low-Fat string cheese, Protein drinks (IsoPure). 4. How much water are you getting in?: Shooting for 60 oz. Getting close. 5. Are you keeping up with your vitamins/calcium, etc.: Yes with vitamins, not so great with the calcium 6. What vitamins are you taking? I switched to prenatal vitamins instead of flinstones, a couple that both had the surgery swears by them and thought they might help with hair loss. Baby asprin, iron/B12, calcium, something for gallbladder, and prevacid. 7. Any hair loss? Oh yeah - started a few weeks ago, and I'm worried I'll be bald in a month - ha ha! (didn't have alot to start with). 8. What kind of exercise are you doing? Treadmill with the moveable arms, and chasing after a 1 1/2 and 3 year old. 9. Approximately how many calories are you taking in a day? Guessing about 600? 10. What foods give you problems? Bread, Heavy pasta (about everything except angel hair), Tortillas. 11. Biggest problems so far? I guess it's trying to figure out what to eat, I'm getting tired of eating the same things. Also, wish I was losing more in my stomach. Still have a hard time finding pants 'cause if they fit me around, they are too big in the legs, length and width.

It's funny you posted this question now, because people keep telling me I'm getting thin, and I'm going to blow away (which is a major exageration). I just see the same old me when I look in the mirror. It does seem to take looking at before/after pics to really see the difference. I get discouraged because I'm not losing much in my waist and stomach. That is where I have the most and where I want to lose the most! I checked out your pics and you can really tell the difference between your brother's wedding and halloween.

I have my good days and my not so great days in the self image department. It kinda seems to depend on the clothes I wear. I agree with the other person that said we should try to stick to our current size. I wore something that actually fit correctly this week and felt smaller....then today I wore an older pair of jeans and a shirt that was slightly too big and I felt bigger...yeah they were falling off of me/swallowing me but I just felt sloppy and big. ALSO, I had a major mind jump (to reality) when I put my pre-op picture next to my 3-month picture. I wasn't seeing it until I did that....then I couldn't really deny it anymore...I AM CHANGING!! My boss (a female) is always telling me that I'm shrinking away...so does my hubby....I try to believe them, some days it's easier than others. Hang in there and try to compare pictures or do measurements and wear the right sized clothes!! Christina S

1. What types of food did you eat this week? New types: Home-made (from scratch) BBQ chicken crustless pizza, fish: orange roughy, walleye, halibut, and salmon. Four breakfasts: Special K High Protein cereal with fresh strawberries. 2. What types of exercise did you do this week? Pilates Yoga four times; at the gym: elliptical, lift weights, treadmill, plus outdoor walking--also four times. 3. How much weight did you lose? Total loss? 2 lbs Monday (weigh day) for 64 total. 4. What was your biggest challenge? To stop gleaming as I now wear regular-size sixteen jeans and slacks, and mostly medium tops, but wore two smalls! 5. Want to share any new recipes for our Thanksgiving Dinner next week? Volunteered to work (part-time receptionist at assisted-living facility for elderly) and will take four oz chicken with poultry seasoning, several fresh long green beans, and 1/4 cup pumpkin custard--the excellent pie recipe on Festal pumpkin can, with skim evaporated milk, Splenda--nummy without topping and the plentiful leftover freezes well! *Fun bonus question: Name something you are thankful for? For being a real loser, and feeling so alive, and that everything I do is so much better!
