Hi Christina,
Thanks for getting this "count" started! My surgiversary is tomorrow, July 6th, and I've dropped 124 lbs going from 332# to 208# (today's wt)!
While at a July 4th party, I realized that this time last year I would have been searching out air conditioning and not just having a nice time out in the heat with friends. Don't get me wrong... I'm still not wild about the hot weather, Fall/Winter is my favorite time of the year weather wise, but this July 4th I was able to enjoy myself without the constant distracting thoughts of how miserable I was feeling!!
A lot has changed physically, but I'm sad to say mentally that I am stuck in my obese body. For some reason I still feel (only in my head that is) like that 332# person. When I put on old clothes (I have gotten rid of most of the big clothes but some favorites still linger in my drawers & closet!!!) it doesn't occur to me they won't fit. I don't really "get it" in my brain that I'm 124# less mass!!!
Eating healthy for my new GI set up is a challenge nearly every day. I can say some things are automatic, like taking my supplements, it's just part of my routine now. I still want to overeat and use food as my coping tool, but I'm doing so in healthier ways...THANK GOD for sugar free popsicles!!!! I will eat 12 to even as much as 30 on a really bad day, but cut myself some slack now - They are super low calorie and it helps me get my fluids in!!! I'm certainly not perfect, and far from it on most days, but I have come a long way!!
Good luck to you all, my new bariatric siblings in surgery! While I don't often post I do check in a few times a week and lurk. Thanks to those that give us lurkers something to read!!!
Here we go.... our next year of new adventures and hopefully more to lose!!!
Take care,
Sue

Well, here it is, one year ago today my life changed, and boy oh boy was it for the better!
Yesterday was my one year checkup and the Dr couldn't have been happier. The only thing I have low is my calcium so I'll be taking more each day along with trying to add veggies and cheese high in calcium to my daily eating.
As of today I'm down 182 pounds!
