I started at 265 when I had surgery on 07/17/06, was down to 214 before Thanksgiving and now I've gained 4 pounds. Help!!!!

Linda- I doubt you're done losing. I've also fluctuated a few pounds this past week. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with my cycle. Maybe that's the case for you. OR, I've also thought that I've tried/eaten some things that weren't in my normal diet (can you say yummy green bean casserole!). SO....maybe it's just the water weight from the salt in the items we ate or that we tried a few too many new things. I'm sure if you get back on track (or stay on track!) that you'll start seeing results again soon. I know for me I have to remind myself that every little thing I put in my mouth, even if it's just a bite equals extra calories. Be encouraged....I doubt you're done. Christina S

I find my monthly cycle affects things big time - up to 5 lbs most months! Also, if I lessen up my water, that changes things. WIth the extra salt we ate over Thanksgiving, we're probably retaining a lot of water. I haven't lost what I usually lose so you're not alone. I'm sure in another week or so when we all get back on track with water/exercise, we'll notice the results again! I remember when my grandma went through this, she had her ups and downs - quite normal, I'm sure. Keep going... don't get discouraged!

Hi Linda, I agree with everyone else. This is just a minor speed bump in your journey. I had a 7lbs gain back in September. I freaked out about it a little but it was gone within the next week or so. I still have moment when I gain and lose back and forth. It's frustrating because it brings up old dieting memories for me but I just keep doing what I'm doing and all seem to work it self out. I'm sure the same will be for you. And congrats on you loss thus far. ~~~Triple C.~~~

I also had surgery on July 17th. No you are not done. Each month I gain and lose until after my period, then a drastic drop. I kept fluctuating between 253 and 256. Somedays going up to 257. I was stressing myself out. Finally my period came on and the next day I was at 247. So I will probable drop to about 243, then begin to fluctuate back and forth to 247, then my period, and I'll drop to the 230's. It's a vicious cycle every month. You would think I would stop stressing. NO, but I call my best friend every month crying that I think I have stopped losing. Each time she patiently reassures me that I haven't and the next week my period comes on. Why do I torment myself!!!
