Joint pain
I had gbs on 07/18/06. About 2 wks out I started having terrrble knee pain, my left knee would lock and I wouldn't beable to move. I chalked it up to being off my antinflamatory medicine since surgery. My Doctor put me on celebrex then and have been taking 200mg ever since 2 @ day with very little relief. I have osteoarthritis of my left knee. It's bone hitting bone. I'm 52 yrs young and have lost 63 lbs since July.
The weight lost has not helped my pain at all. I refuse to live on pain medicne everyday so have decided that a total knee replacement is my only option. As steroid injections also have brought any relief. I see a new ortho Doc tomorrow to discuss my surgery options. About two weeks ago my left ankle started to hurt and swell up. It felt like I had twisted my ankle or something. It has since stopped hurting and swelling has almost gone away. But now last week I woke up in the middle of the night and had terrible pain in my left ring finger. I nursed it for a couple of days just figuring it was arthris in my hand. Over the week end I could not even get my rings on or off.( they had been falling off my fingers by now) Today I went to see my pcp because my finger was very swollen and hurting alot. He said it seems to be in the joint and sent me to get an x- ray and also referred me to a hand specilist. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any similar problems and if this could be linked some how to gbs.
so sorry to hear all the stuff your going though,,,,,it must be heard,,,,dont know if you thought about it or not,,but could it be gout (sp) not sure of the spelling,,but anyway that is something that happens in joints,,,so cant hurt to ask your dr,,,,hint,,,gout happens when you eat some seafood,,and peanuts,,,,and more but i think that it most of it,,,,good luck,,,hope you start to do better soon,,,

ps oh some joint pain after surgery comes for the weight lose,,,your joints dont know what to do since it was having to hold up so much weight,,,and now your less,,,kinda hard to explain,,,
Thanks for your input. Saw the ortho doc today and he will schedule a total knee replacemnt next month for the left knee and hopefully depending how I recover go in and do the right knee about six weeks later. I felt like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulder just knowing that relief is on the way. I'll see that hand specialist on Monday and I will ask about the gout. When my knee flared up right after gbs surgery that's what the doc thought it was. But it wasn't. I let you know what happens. Thanks again.
