Hair Loss
I was told before surgery to make sure I got 100gms of Protein a day to prevent losing hair. I have done that all along and so far (knock on wood) I havent lost any hair. My husband has even commented that my hair is healthier and doesnt even fall out as much as it did before surgery.
Before surgery when I got out of the shower there would be a small pile in the tub everyday. Now I never see any. I hope its all the protein and vitamins Im taking. I am healthier now than I ever was before surgery.
So I think if u keep your protein up it can help. I know they say what u did about 3 months ago is what u are seeing the results of now. So if u start now maybe in 3 months it will be all cleared up.

That is a fallacy, Mariah and 100 grams of protein a day will kill your kidneys. The hair loss is normal and some do and some don't. Nioxin may or may not accept the outcome but one thing is for sure, guys, YOUR HAIR WILL GROW BACK.. it is not permanently gone. The new growth is just what happens to a new baby... they lose their hair and then get that cute, shiny toddler hair.... No worries... you will be fine.
Mariah, I am concerned about the protein intake... unless you weigh 400 lbs. you should not be taking in 100 grams a protein a day ever!! And that is documented scientifically by several doctors and their articles written over the past 15 years.
I am taking in 65-75 grams a day and my surgeon told me not to go over that amount because of the risk of damage to my kidneys and the body only absorbs about 20-30 grams of protein at a time anyway... the rest is waste.
Hair loss and then new re-growth is no biggy... but kidney failure from overdoing protein intake is very, very dangerous. ShelleyAnne
hello all,
you may take what i say with a grain of salt,,,,lol,,,but long time ago,,i was on a diet that was a high protine diet,,the dr said i had to get oil in my diet,,,like what was in peanut butter,,,if you think about it and your hair gets dry it was fall out,,but if it stays moist,,,well you get it,,,so i make sure i eat 1 tbsp of peanut butter a day,,,another thing i had a girl friend who washed her hair 2 to 3x a day,,(you got it) the dry hair thing,,,so for these 6 months unless i really need to i only wash my hair every 2 to 3 days,,,,i havent lost any hair yet,,,not saying this will work,,,just think about it,,,,,

My 2 Cents:
This is all natural and will happen to most of us. I'm noticing a little loss but not too much. I take all my vitamins and supplements. I've added a biotin shampoo to my regiment. I don't do it every day, maybe 3 times a week. I also plan on adding Biotin & Niacin to my vitamin, but it very low doses. Niacin has been reported to make you turn red and heat you up if you take more than 100mgs at one time.
Overall, some are worse than others. There are measures you can take, but I think if you're going to lose it, its going to happen anyway. Good news is that I've seen first hand that it does grow back and it gets even thicker. My best friend has fairly thin hair and she lost quite a bit, but now she has more hair than ever and she is 3 years out.
Honestly, I'd rather be bald than 300 pounds and unhealthy.
