Anyone sick of food?

I swear before surgery I was a 24/7 food addict. My every thought was of what I was going to eat next, I'd even wake up with thoughts of food on my mind. Now fast forward to almost three months since surgery, and I'm almost the total opposite. I still think about food and what it used to taste like, but when I sit down to eat, I can't stand the whole eating thing. Nothing tastes that good to me anymore, and eating in general is a pain. Have any of you experienced anything like this? Sometimes I wonder if I feel this way because of the complications I've had ... ie: Stricture and hemmoraging gastritis. Who knows, but I will be bringing this up during my 3 month checkup next week. Just wondered if I was the only weirdo out there! Jan

Hi Jan, I can realate to this, as I've appreciated having no hunger and no cravings. We're in the 'honeymoon phase' where the highest losing occurs. My program dietitian had stressed we're able to set up and maintain healthy eating choices, so that when the appetite and cravings recur (anywhere from four to six months), we'll be proceeding with healthy lifestyle changes. For the first time in my life, I'm eating to live, not living to eat and this is so amazing! Best of luck along this awesome journey! Hugs, Patti

I feel hunger, but it's in a different way. Somehow I just know when to eat, but if I don'****ch the clock, then I wind up undereating. Right now, I can't get enough oatmeal, and that's about all I want. Other things taste ok, but I just want oatmeal! I guess because it's quick and hot. (Kind of like a good date, right??? kidding!) It does take me a while to eat now, and I've been a fast eater my whole life, so I'm still trying to get used to that.

Jan, I can TOTALLY relate! I used to love eating and the taste of food. Now, I really cringe when I know I need to eat something. My favourite foods don't taste very good or I can't tolerate anymore. I even went to Swiss Chalet for chicken yesterday & the sauce made me sick. I used to LOVE that sauce, I was so disappointed! I am greiving the loss of my food, it was a comfort & now it seems like a nightmare! On the plus side, I totally love the 70lbs. gone & how I feel physically, all the wonderful things that go with the weight loss over rides the negative & I'm sure I will adjust eventually! I will probably tolerate more of the foods I enjoy 6 months from now (that may not be a good thing) lol. Hang in there, I'm sure it will get better! Hugs, Heather

If you're a weirdo, I'm a weirdo too! I wasn't a food lover before surgery so I am not totally surprised, but considering the amount of food I ate just to be eating, I'm shocked. I have good days and bad days. Sometimes I'd rather just drink my day away - water of course. Others, I'm cool and stuff is appealing and tastes good. You and I are just 4 days apart and started at almost the same point - I had 10 lbs on ya ;) I'm from So Ca too...originally

About a month ago I went through a 2-3 week period where eating just seemed like such a chore. Making choices, eating protein first, nothing to drink for 30 mins before or 30 mins after. It just started to really get to me. Then it just got a little easier. I still do all those things but it seems easier to me now and I just realized it when I read your post--so thanks and it does get better or at least it did for me.

I still can not eat. My pouch is very sensitive. I have been trieing some fish and it has stayed, but other than that I have no appetite. I have lost 90 pounds since surgery and a total of 145 pounds since January Jason
