I had surgery on July 12, Im just about 11 weeks out. I have to say its been a very emotional time for me. Im loosing wt and should be just thrilled with that alone. I always thought I would be. However its not as easy as all that. Today however I am happy to say that I did my Monday morning wt in and here are my stats: Surgery wt -394 BMI of 56.5 last weeks wt-309 this weeks wt-301 BMI of 43.2 I was just updating my profile when I realized that my bmi has really went down too. I think it looks even better than the wt loss. To think Ive went down in body fat by over 13 percent is just amazing to me. I hope by my 3 month check up on Oct 9th I can have 100 lbs gone for good. Is anyone in here going to Lexington, Ky convention hosted by OH. I am so looking forward to going to this. I still have so much to learn about maintance and PS Mariah

Wow Mariah (I love your name), you are doing great!! I understand about the emotional feelings. Me too. But I think with all that our bodies are going thru, we have every right to be a bit, well psycho, right now. Keep up the awesome work! Wish I could see you at the convention, but I can't go.

Aloha Mariah....Wow, you are doing extraordinarily good! I am so happy for you. I feel frustrated and unhappy with my progress when I see how well you have done. I have only lost 34 lbs. since July 26th, and have been stuck at that weight for over three weeks. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please tell me what you are eating on a daily basis. I have to figure out what to change so that I can get past this place on the scale. It's driving me nuts! I go to see my surgeon next month on the 26th of Oct. which will be my official three month date, but I'm guessing that I won't even be at 40 lbs. lost...and you are looking at 100! Sigh. Keep up the fantastic work! It encourages me to know that it is possible to lose the kind of weight that you are. Aloha nui loa, Karen S.

Karen, I started out weighting alot more than u did and thats why Im loosing wt so fast in the beginning. I wt almost 400 lbs. I also had a lap RNY...The type of procedure u have can make a difference. I will tell u how I eat...I dont keep a journal so I wont have exact foods but I can give u an idea. Here goes When I get up I drink an Atkins protein drink. That takes me about an hr to drink the entire can. I often drink half then shower and then drink the other half. Then I follow that with a 3 oz breakfast...usually just cottage cheese and apple sauce...usually two days a week I eat out with my husband and I'll have one egg over med with 1 sauage patty...That fills me up. I have a snack of cheese before lunch..usually Sargentos colby cheese stick (other snacks have been dried apple chips, pork rinds, fresh fruit. Only one oz of food at this time. I will also have a profect protein drink. For lunch I again will have 2 oz of protein and 1 oz of some veggie low glycemic of course. Then in the afternoon I have another cheese stick and another protein drink...Usually not at the same time..about an hr apart. Dinner is the same as lunch...2 oz of protein and 1 oz of a low glycemic veggie. Then some nights I'll have another snack before bed...yes u guessed it..another cheese stick or some apple sauce or some apple juice. I buy everything sugar free...such as the apple sauce ect. I dont worry about the fat...I try to choose lower fat choices but i dont do that with my cheese... but say Im having pepperoni chips I try to buy turkey rather than the real thing but if they dont have turkey I buy the real thing. I have had chicken, turkey, limited pork, and I just started having steak last week and Ive had no problem with it. I also had my first salad this week without any problems. I dont eat bread, flour, potatos or sugar...I have also avoided sugar and sugar subs. Splenda is in my apple sauce but I think thats about it and last sunday I did have a crystal light lemonaid(with splenda). It was really good so I may on occasion do that again. I dont drink any soda, coffee or tea. Only water and protein and skim milk are my main fluids.... I have also had limited OJ, apple juice and tomato juice. When I have juice it has to be 100 percent real juice no added sugar. I hope this helps...If u have any more questions please feel free to ask...This is following the guidelines my dr gave me. Your dr might not approve this. I eat and I have high energy. I am also going to the gym and my husband and I have been doing alot of mall walking. Ohh and dont forget all the vitamin popping we all do.

Sandy, I just emailed you and I just posted a huge post to Karen that might help you. IF u have any more questions just ask. I'll see what I can do to help. We have to eat all 3 meals (2 oz protein and 1 of a veggy), get at least 2 snacks a day in(mostly protein with an occasional fruit). Get at least 64 oz of water (I really try to drink 3, 24 oz bottles of dasanti) and get a min of 75 gms of protein a day. This will not only keep our metabolism working all that protein helps to keep us from loosing our hair. If u dont keep it closer to 100 gms u will loose more hair...at least this has been what I was taught...Ive not lost any hair yet....and Im hoping not to. I was also told it starts at about 3 months out and Im almost there so Im keeping that protein up.

Sandy, I can be here as long as u need me. Dont worry about how many questions u ask. I just dont usually post much becouse I figure ppl dont want to hear what I have to say. Most listen to what their Drs tell them. However, for those of u who didnt get much pre-op teaching or have questions I am always willing to help. I have some papers u can print out that might help u too. I have posted this before but u may have missed it. http://www.wlsindy.com/planphases.htm I go by the yellow pages on this site each page will give u the diet I follow at each stage of my journey. u can click on each page and they will enlarge and u can print them off. I do basicly 2 things different than what these papers suggest. I avoid the starch list as much as possible. I stick with a whole grain when I do have one such as I will have on rare occasions cream of wheat or oatmeal. I also have continued with my protein supplements....it says on here once u are eating enough protein u dont need the extra supplements....I dont agree with that from all Ive been learning so I have continued with them. I hope this helps u and anyone else who didnt get any pre op teaching or just needs some more teachin. Anything else u want to know....ASK Im glad I was able to help u
