Hey Everybody!!! I hope all is well with everyone. I'm truly in the dumps about the weight loss. Sometimes I wander if I made the correct choice in having surgery. Then, I think that I was on my way to having a CVA (stroke) due to HTN---requiring five Rx per day. I had lap RNY 7-11 and preop I was 358. The day of surgery, I was 349. Today, I was 315. I just don't feel that I'm losing as I thought I would. I find it hard to eat breakfast most mornings. I have full mornings with two kids ages seven and one. Then I'm off to work 8-5 (RN) in an OB-GYN office and usually it's non-stop. When I get home, there is always so much to do. I had been doing protein shakes but I just got sick of the taste. I do eat lunch and something for supper. As far as exercising, I try to walk 2 miles in the evenings although I have not been as consistent as I should. I will admit that I haven't been cheating or grazing though. I know that none of us will lose at the same pace, but I've been at this weight for almost FOUR weeks and it's getting the best of me. Tell me what else can you guys recommend to assist me with losing? I do need to up the 64 oz water along with vitamins and calcium. I guess I feel like nothing is working. I went to the fitness center last week and I want to join spin class but that bicycle seat is not for US!!!! I thought I'd die. I do plan to walk at least five times a week beginning tomorrow. I'm open to any and all suggestions!!!!!! Thanks Ree Ree P.S. Having worked in OB-GYN for the past seven years, I can tell you that some obese people do not have cycles because of their weight and it causes them not to ovulate. However, once you begin to lose weight, the cycles start to regulate therefore you ovulate and you can become pregnant easier. So ladies be careful if you don't want any......SURPRISES!!!!!!!! Sorry I didn't reply earlier but my DH and I went to Memphis for the weekend!!

I feel for you - it is so depressing and frustrating to go to such drastic measures to lose weight and then hit a stall. Four weeks is a long time! I was in a similiar spot just a week ago. I lost 24 pounds the first 3 weeks, then nothing for the next three. There is hope though - the stall broke and I have lost 6 pounds in the last week. I think your stall will break too - it sounds like you're doing everything you can - I hear everyone say how important the water and protein is. I've also heard people say it's good to change your routine a bit. Have you talked to your doctor or his nutritionist? I talked to mine and he's having me come in to measure my body fat (for future reference) and also my metobolism - they were thinking I might be a "slow loser." They were just about to change my diet when I started losing again. I wish you the best - hope you start losing again VERY soon!

Each person weighs and loses at different amounts depending on your metabolic responses etc. I was told by a physician in Reno the other day that losing 25 pounds in 4 weeks was too much!!!!!. I am not sure if he knows what he is talking about or what. I know being a nurse is a hard job and we are always on the run but you have to make sure you eat, your body could be holding back your weight loss cause it thinks that it is starving. I take things to work that I can eat in a hurry, the boost bottles with extra protein or string cheese and yougurt. Worry about your protein and water intake first and then weight loss.

Pick your self up....and stop being depressed you have lost a considerable amount since your surgery, which was only two day before mine. No one ever said that WLS was going to be easy. We have all decided to make extreme scafices to be healther. Don't ru**** your weight will continue to fall off......yea we will hit thos bumbs in the roads thoughout the journey and may even fall off of the tracks a few times. But we know that we can get right back you and tackle this WLS again. Most days I don't have an appetite, expecially in the morning. At work, I can hardly get in enough water. For the most part I eat what I want minus the sugar & sweets. I have had stalls but I keep pressing on. I don't take my vitamins like I should (which is so bad) but I am working on that. Remember this is a complete change of your lifestyle. I don't weight my self on the scale, I don't want to be a personal slave to it. I know that if I am doing just about everthing I can to succed at this, the weight will come off. Also, the faster you lose, the possibility of an extreme amout of excess skin. So why you have stalled, you should take advantage of it, and tone up during those times. Dee

Hey Ree Ree, I just went through what you did, but its totally turning around. Hang in there. The best thing I can recommend is to up your protein. It helps a lot. No matter how busy you are, its very important that you take the time to take care of you. All of this will be for nothing, if you don't. Please hang in there and keep up the good work, Amber

Ree Ree, am I seeing that you have lost 34 pounds since your surgery? Well, you are ahead of me, and my surgery was a couple of days before you. I've been stalled too, for about 3 weeks, and it is discouraging, but we are far from the only ones in that boat. It will happen, just not as quickly as we want it to! Jezia
