Slow Cooker Happiness
So I saw someone mention on the main board that they were crock-potting dinner so I decided to give it a try. Keep in mind that I have ALWAYS thrown up when i ate chicken (from one bite to 2 ounces)...
i crockpotted a chicken stew last week - with Lawry's sesame ginger marinade, green pepper, onion, carrots and yams - and totally kept down the chicken (of course i ate about 2 oz at a time...)
today i used their mesquite marinade and just a little onion - and same deal - i ate two ounces over an hour ago and it sat fine.
the slow cooker makes the chicken REALLY moist and easy to digest (it falls apart). i will be using mine ALL THE TIME now. it even gives me hope that one day i may try cooking pork or beef! the veggies also get really tender and easy to eat too.
I hope this helps some of the other folk who are having a tough time keeping food down and need to get their protein in.
warm fuzzies,
Deb
Deb, My slow cooker got broken, it was over 10 years old. I just bought a new one and cooked Turkey meatballs and gravy and then I did ribs for Labor day. My family loved them and so did my pouch. I am only 6 weeks post op and eat very little but it is nice to serve my family something I can eat for a change.
I will have to try chicken. I loved chicken preop so this would be great if I can eat it if cooked in a slow cooker.
Hi,
I have a rotessirie (sp?) and I have been using that with pork loin roast with a rotessirie seasoning rubbed on. It is so moist and delicious. I have been able to eat pork since a few weeks post op.
I agree with everyone else about the slow cooker. I didn't really use my prior to surgery but now its my best friend. Yesterday I slow cooked a beef pot roast and it was so good and tender.
