Need breakfast ideas

I am having a hard time finding anything to eat for breakfast. I am sick of eggs, hate oatmeal and cream of wheat, cold cereal. Peanut butter toast makes my blood sugar do wacky things and I really don't like eating bread anyway. So what is left? Bacon makes me too thirsty and since we can't drink for 40 minutes after eating, it is like torture when I eat it. Sausage links were just too fatty. I have been eating cheese, cheese and more cheese for breakfast and need some variety. I am eight weeks out from RNY. Thanks for the ideas!

Debra- This may not be the greatest, but since I hate mornings and needed something to grab on the way out the door I've been eating a protein bar. I figured it was helping me with my protein and filling my tummy for breakfast. I've not tried nearly the variety you have though....bacon sounds wonderful.... Christina S

Hi Debra, I have gotten into the habit of making a protein shake in the morning to drink on my way to work since I don't care for a breadfast first thing in the morning. I put 1 cup skim milk, 2 ice cubes and a vanilla protein powder (I can't remember the name of it, but I buy it at BJ's) and whip it up in the blender. This has the added benefit of giving me around 33 grams of protein, which is a good way to start the day! Occasionally I add a teaspoon full of peanut butter, some more vanilla or cinnamon as different flavorings. This works very well for me during the week. On weekends I have have an english muffin with cheese or chicken salad. Sometimes I give in to convention and will have scrambled eggs with cheese. Hope these suggestions help. Keep up the good work! I do different flavors of yogurt with a lil bit of granola. In a week I can add cold cereals...I cant wait...think I'll start with a kashi cereal.

Since my doctor doesn't like us eating cereal of anykind, and I only get white carbs 3 times a week, I've been very creative. I've also been told this week no more protein drinks! I've never in my life been an egg fan, but I do eat them becasue I know they are a good sorce of protein. I make a yummy SF egg custard, a recipe I got from Susan Marie's Before and After book. I make a big bowl and we always have it on hand (the rest of the family love it and have no clue it's SF). I have yogurt, protein bars, a ham and cheese roll-up (1 slice ham rolled around a piece of cheese), egg scrambles - I chop up bell peppers, onions, ham, tomato, mushrooms, and add an egg and some shredded cheese. I'll make egg salad and eat it by itself too. Sometimes I'll have a glass of nonfat milk with SF chocolate syrup. Fruit too, I try to add a few bites of watermelon, cantalope, grapes, or whatever else we have on hand. Hope that helps. Janet

Debra, I actually had this for lunch today but you could have it for breakfast, why not. I am only 3 1/2 weeks out. Swanson canned chicken breast 1oz 1/2 oz of shredded mozerella and 1 oz of mushroom. It was yummy. I sauted the mushrooms in a little olive oil, then added the chicken to heat thru then when I was ready to eat, topped with the cheese. Blessings,

Hi Deb, 2 months out today...try turkey bacon, it is actually good. and quiche(sp) with eggs, cheese and whatever else you can throw in that you like. I cant eat a whole slice only maybe a half of it, but my tummy is having problems. I got freezer bags and froze them, now I get up and pop it in the microwave and breakfast. My doctor is not an advocate for drinking your protein so I have had a lot of time to experiment. Also, pb on whole wheat or low fat ritz or wheat crackers. I don't use low fat bc I don't like it, but I only use a small amount. Hope this helps.
