So, I made a conscious decision not to weigh myself too often - otherwise i'll be hoping on the scale every five minutes... i know me - obsessive and nutty. i decided to weigh myself only at doctor's appointments - so the last time i got weighted was at the ob/gyn's 8/21. here's the problem - i'm dying to know if i lost weight... should i? should i hold out for a month and really (hopefully) get blown away or should i give in and buy a scale? what are you folks doing? I would die not knowing. LOL! I weigh every morning and sometimes when I don't see it move then I say I need to quit this everyday weighing. But I do anyway can't help myself. Pre-op 262 now 217 lost 45

I was with you Deb, I was only going to weigh at DR. appointments. Then at a support group meeting, Dr. Davidson said they most successful WLS patients weigh daily, because then they can tell if what they are doing is working or not. I bought a scale the NEXT day, and weigh daily now. I am six weeks out today and have lost 45 lbs. Not sure how much the scale had to do with it, and how much not being able to Eat did, and going back to work 5 days after surgery. Bobbie Lynn

I weigh every few days...when I remember too. I must say the first few weeks I weighed daily...but now I just don't remember too. Christina S

I weigh myself once a week, unless I need a boost, then twice a week. Janet

IMHO, weighing every day is NOT a good idea, at least until we are at maintenance. Our weight can easily fluctutate up and down a few pounds every day depending on all sorts of things . . . how much water we are retaining, how much we pooped, barometric pressure (just kidding), what time of month it is . . . you get the drift. And those of us who are desperate to lose can become VERY upset over those daily variations. I promised myself I'd weigh only once a week, and when I broke that promise and weighed a second time, I had GAINED a pound. So I am back to once a week or less, and thinking that the best advice I received when I was worried about my stall was . . . Step AWAY from the scale!!!!! Jezia

Deb, I hit the scale only at the gym and then ONLY after I've worked out. At that point the endorphins are going so strong, if I'm up or down, it doesn't really matter. At the most, I hit the scale 2x a week and that's if I remember. I'm down 52.2 lbs since my 7/12 surgery, and I didn't even think about weighing until I went to my first post-op class in early August. My real gauge? Clothes. I've put on a pair of pants on a Monday that were snug, and by the next Monday they were comfortable and by the Monday after that, they were headed to Goodwill. Clothes-check...works every time for me. EL
