Hey everyone, I am wondering everyone who had surgery on July 17th how much weight have you lost? I started out my journey at 254. The day of surgery I was 246. I am now down to 216. How is everyone else doing? I was hoping to lose a little more then this but I'll take it. I have to stay off the scale I have become a scale slave. Hope you are all doing wonderful. Hugs, Di

Hi Di - As of yesterday I've lost 48lb. I'm thrilled, but I can tell you if it would have been 20lb I be just as happy! You're doing wonderful and 38lb is nothing to sneeze at ... when would you ever have lost so much in such a short time before surgery? Keep up the great work! Janet

Ok, maybe I'm not doing the math right but from your starting point to now I get 38lb. you've got to count it all, and give yourself credit for every pound gone! I had lap RNY, was in the hospital less than 24 hours, and back to work, but tired, after a week and a half (4 hours a day). I'm very happy to say as of this morning I'm now down 50lbs! It just amazes me. Janet

Hi i had mine on the 17th too I went in weighing 271 and I am down to 239. I personally am very discouraged. I feel I am doing everything by the book and nothing is working. I'm down 32 lbs and that is great but its not moving. Good luck Tina

Tina, I don't get when people say they are discouraged?? What were you expecting? You've lost 32lb! That's amazing! It's gone forever! When before surgery could you have done that in such a short amount of time? Don't be discouraged, be very proud of yourself! I think the reason I'm loosing a bit more than others is due to a couple things - I have much more weight to lose and I developed a stricture, anything that went down for a whole week made me sick. It was no fun at all, in fact I have to go back in the hospital Friday for another endoscopy. My Doctor told me as of Monday that I'm no longer to drink protein drinks, I need to get it all from food. They have found that after 4 weeks of protein drinks your body tends to become lazy it doesn't have to work to break down liquids like it does with food, and your metabolism slows down. It's hard but I'm making sure I'm getting lots of fluids and as much protein as possible. Best wishes to you, Janet

I had my surger on July 17th and I am down 39 lbs. I feel like I am working so hard and I hit plateaus for at least 2 weeks after every 5lbs. loss. I must admitt I do get discouraged, but I can tell in my clothes that I am losing. Down from size 30/32 to 24/26. Twenty-fours are big in the legs, but tight in the abdomen. I am having the hardest time losing the stomach. People say they can tell I'm losing, I just thought it would be allot faster. I geuss when I think of having had major surgery, I want the weight to come off the next day. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for what I have lost so far, because I know longer take blood pressure medicine or diabetes meds. I do a two hour work out 3 days a week, water aerobics, cardio treadmill and weights. I am gaining muscle, but don't feel like I"m losing fat, quick enough for the effort. I geuss this is a lesson in patience. I failed at traditional weight loss plans because I would get discouraged that the scale didn't move. I have gone through too much to give up. Off to the gym tomorrow...........

Hi there Michele, I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. I feel like I don't eat anything and the weight should be coming off so much faster. I haven't lost ANY weight this week. It is SO discouraging isn't it. I feel sometimes like it is just one more thing that isn't going to work for me. But, I try so hard not to feel that way. I work out 3 to 4 times a week as well. What kinds of things are you eating? I couldn't make my appointment for the phase 4 diet so I am still eating simple foods. Except I have added jerky. That goes down really well for me I just have to chew it FOREVER! LOL Keep me posted on how you are doing. I don't know anyone else who is around the same time as me so it is hard to ask them questions. Most people don't "remember" since they are farther out then me. Thanks so much. Good luck to you! Diane

I can eat most anything, but I do really well with seafood, i.e., fish, shrimp, crab. I also to very well with eggs and chilli. I have to chew chicken forever in order to get it down, and most times it isn't worth it. The only bread I eat is soft flour tortilla or pita bread and that is not often. The soft foods are still good, cottage cheese or yogurt for breakfast. The thing I love the most is sugar free popsicles. They are my best friend. I try to drink at least one to two protein drinks a day, usually slim fast low carb or atkins and I munch on a protein bar especially after I workout. That's my routine...... Let's hang in there.....it's journey, not a destination Michele
