A LITTLE BUMMED!
Well it has been a month today since my surgery...I have lost a total of 16 pounds since surgery and the scale has not moved in two weeks...It is so wierd because I feel like my clothes have gotten alot looser in the past two weeks, so I was really surprised the scale didn't budge... I lost 30 pounds before surgery so I guess I will not loose quickly like most of you have done...Anyways, thanks for letting me vent...Oh, and by the way I walk 3-4 times a week about a mile and a half a day.... Is anyone in the same boat as me..
Vanessa
I am trying to measure my success by other things rather than weight/scale. Though I realize that these others won't come without lose the weight.
I put my wedding ring back on after a year. I have stopped taking 4 medications, have cut one in half. Gone down in insuline used from 160 to 30 units. Isn't it great.
You won't lose as much as you would if you hadn't dieted before surgery it is true. But it sounds like you're walking a good amount.
Muscle is 2 1/2 times the density of fat. so in other words a box of muscle is 2 1/2 times as heavy as a box of fat. if you are losing fat, and building muscle you will lose inches, not pounds. muscles then burn up a lot more calories at rest than fat does so in other words, you may not lose it at first as quickly as some but you will lose it and it will stay off!
don't get discouraged - we're all going to have plateaus and they will break. you can't NOT lose weight.
best,
Deb
Heya Vanessa. I made a mistake and weighed myself this morning and I had GAINED a pound! If your clothes are getting looser, it will eventually show on the scale. You might want to take measurements along the way so that when the pounds don't go down, you can still see progress in inches. The advice I keep getting is to toss the scale and trust in the process, only weigh once a week or month (I can't get myself to wait for once a month but maybe I will get there! )
Sounds to me like you are doing better than you think you are!

I am a little over a month today and have lost slightly over 20 pounds. However, I had a stall for two weeks as well, but also thought my clothes were looser.
So on the day of my month appointment I re-measured myself (I had my measurements from the day before surgery written in my surgery bible)--
I have lost 17" over all my body. Its astounding and made me feel so much better about the stall.
If you have not measured yourself yet, please do so now so that you can see that your body is indeed changing!
My feet even lost inches!
