DEPRESSION HELP AGAIN
Hi Everyone,
Well, I called my doctor and told her that I felt I needed to get back on the Wellbutrin. I told her that I heard that after the surgery I wouldn't be able to absorb the wellbutrin xl, and requested that she write a prescription for a different form of Wellbutrin. When I picked up my prescription, I realized that it was still Wellbutrin XL, just 2 pills of 150 mg per day, instead of 1 at 300 mg. Does that sound right?
I was prescribed the original medication by my family doctor, so she's the one that I called. Should I have gone through my doctor that did the surgery? I'm confused.

Deanna,
What surgery did you have a revision too? I had the DS and because of the malabsorption I had to almost double my depressions meds (I take Prozac) to get to a level that worked. You really need to talk to your surgeon and let him make a recommendation to your pcp. Do it tomorrow, don't put this off, depression can really get a hold of you fast. Praying for it to get resolved quickly.

Deanna, I would go back to your pharmacy and explain to them that u cant take the xl that u need just the regular 100 mg tablets and u need 3 a day....ask them to call your dr and get it straightened out. I went thru this same thing right after my surgery and my pharmacy was so accomidating.
Also, It got to be to much for me to take that 3 x's a day. It was depressing me just having to pop pills all the time. Between 3 multiVitamins, 2 Calcium and my synthroid. I had to have it changed to a once a day pill. Im now on lexapro and its working pretty good for me Its been a month and I am doing much better on it.
I hope this helps. If I were u I would just talk to my pharacist they are pretty good at working things out.

She probably just screwed up. keep in mind that many GPs are not familiar with our surgeries - i mean they know them but they may not be familiar with the vagueries. She probably read that we could take smaller pills and thought givingyou two smaller ones would help.
If i were you I'd call my surgeon, ask what they suggest and then go to her with exactly what you need. You could even ask the dr. to call your surgeon's office to consult - they should be doing that anyway.
Good luck!
Deb
