The worst is over I think...

I had surgery on 7/31 and everything went wonderfully. I went home after 3 days and things seemed to get worse not better. I was doing everything exactly like my surgeon told me, but i guess I just needed more water for my body and ended up severely dehydrated and spent another 2 and half days in the hospital. Now I am worlds better and getting around more and am so thankful to be on pureed foods (who would have thought to be grateful for that?!?) I am 2 weeks out and have lost 20 lbs, I can't believe it, I lost 27 before surgery and didn't expect anything like 20lbs so quickly. I have been so unmotivated to post but have been reading others posts. How are all the other 7/31 people doing??

I am doing fine. I have not weighed since my one week check-up, but I had lost 10 lbs. at that point. I have been walking a lot and I am now up to 1 and 3/4 of a mile! I have been able to get my water in for the most part, but finding protein I like was a challenge. Unjury seems to be the only kind I like okay so I am getting ready to order the big jars (I ordered samples first). Glad you are doing better... Moniqe D.

I had my surgery 7/17/06 and I feel great. I have had an instance or two where what I ate didn't agree with me, or what I thought would taste good really doesn't. I have always been a big water drinker so getting my water in has not been a problem. I am down 24 pounds today and feel great. I am thankful to get off of the broth! If I would have seen another oz of broth I would have went postal! I am so glad to hear you are doing better, dehydration is a huge deal. We have triple digits a lot of the time where I live so getting my water in is real important. Take care and hope to talk to you soon. Charlene

Hi Shannon, I too had surgery on 7/31. I am a bit jealous since my doctor still has me onstage 2, until this sunday, then I can introduce pureed foods. lol, getting exciting thinking about trying ricotta with some tomato sauce and a bit of mozzarella lol. Anyway, as of last tuesday, i am down 24 lbs, that includes the 7 pounds lost preop. I went back to work yesterday, but must admit I am very tired. I still don't have all my energy and can't seem to get the suggested amounts of protein in, not even close! I hope after Sunday my energy comes back ciao, Maryellen

I found now that i get enough water i have soooo much more energy, but then again I'm not back to work yet. Congrats on the 24lbs and good luck getting to stage 3....its so nice to have new tastes and at least a wee bit of texture. Best of luck!

Maryellen, I am in the same boat! Back at work, lacking energy, and severely lacking in the protein department. It's so hard. There are a lot of great suggestions on bariatriceating.com in their forums. I'm thrilled with some of the recipes posted there!
