A salad, a veggie burger, boneless buffalo wings, a tuna sandwich....SOMETHING! I am so darn sick of pureed foods. I look at them and want to run. The smells of restaurants and grills in my area are making me crazy! Ahhhh, it feels better just to get it out. I know in the end it will be worth it but right now I want to chew something. Thanks for listening. Nicole

I hear ya. I am 3 weeks post op and I am dying for some salad. Go to bariatriceating.com and they have some great recipes and chat rooms to get recipes for the soft/pureed diet. Good Luck! Kris

I am 7 days post-op and would kill for mushy/pureed food right now! I'm so sick of liquids!!!!! Especially since I had to do liquids prior to surgery!

Why did you have to do liquids before surgery? Has your doctor or dietician given a recomendation for when you can start your blender stage? You should be able to begin things like pureed soups, apllesauce, yogurt etc. Kris

I was making my husband lunch this morning (don't get the wrong idea - i'm a teacher and off for the summer, during the school year he makes his own lunch - i was just being nice ) and it was soooooo hard not to just say screw it and take a huge bite of his roast beef sandwich! grrrrrrr!

OK, I got to admit, there have been a few times when I just felt like I had to chew, so I'd be bad take a bite of whatever it was and chew, chew, chew, then I'd spit it out. The 4 weeks of liquid diet were awful ... 2 weeks pre-op and two weeks post-op. Getting to the pureed food stage was wonderful! I've made a lot of recipes from Susan Marie's book and they've all been wonderful! Janet

I am a moth out and have been eating soft foods for about a week and a half. I know how you feel. I too craved a salad and tuna fish. I had a salad today and it was heaven. How many weeks are you post-op? I would call your dietician and see if you can start on soft foods. Like mine told me like turkey meatballs things that if you lost all your teeth. I know that sounds funny but if that happened you could eat soft things. Take care and it will get better Kelly wheeler

Thanks Kelly. I started eating some soft foods this week. Last night I had some Tilapia fish and it was ok. I had one moment where I think I ate too fast and it hurt a bit but it was worth it. I can't imagine eating a salad. I might try it though. THanks for your input. Nicole

My DR says no RAW veggies for a month until your healed ... I'd be careful with a salad!

I can't have lettuce until 3 mos. post-op! Listen to your nutritionist. It's best to follow his/her advice to the T!
