Hello, and thank you for all the replies! Two days ago, I had lost three pounds! And then yesterday...I had gained back two! Argh! So, I'm going to take my surgeon's advice, and not look at the scale for a while. I am also going to try upping my protein intake by about 20g and upping my walking time. And we'll see what happens! Please keep up the updates!

I want to thank you, too, for posting this. I came to the boards today specifically looking for a post like this! I'm considered a lightweight (weighed 235 on surgery day) and I've lost 13.5 pounds in the last two weeks. So I was put on soft foods at my checkup and I upped my exercise routine thinking," Yay! It will go fast now!" Heck no! I have now hit my first stall and even saw my weight jump up two pounds the other day. Im not looking at my scale for a week because for the last three days I've wanted to pull my hair out! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED IN THIS THREAD! YAY IM NOT NUTS NOR A FAILURE!

I am so glad to see I am not going crazy. I am 3 weeks post op and I have been at a stall for over a week. I have been doing deep water aerobics 4 times a week and everyday my weight fluctuates up and down 1lb. I was getting so discouraged and thought I would be the 15% of wls patients that don't loose weight. I have lost 23lbs since my surgery on July 17th. But nothing more. I am glad to hear there are others in this same predicatment. This post is a great help!! Thank you.

I am 2 weeks (tomorrow) and have not lost (actually gained one lb) in 4 days! And yes, I am angry about it. Tomorrow I get to get away from all this high-carb, high-sodium foods (pudding, yogurt, etc.) and start on some mushy solids (eggs, re-fried beans, melted-cheese, etc.) and I am hoping that will break this 4-day hold-out.

THANK GOD I AM NOT ALONE!!!! I actually have a post on the main message board about this very same thing. I have lost 14.5 pounds but haven't lost an ounce in the last 5 or 6 days!! I want to cry! I thought the surgery was a complete failure and I was doomed to be overweight forever......what a relief that it is so common!

Hey, you guys!! I am so glad this post came up. I am 4 weeks post-op today. I DO NOT OWN A SCALE ANYMORE.... THREW IT OUT TWO WEEKS BEFORE SURGERY. I learned my lesson from a bunch of other post-op people who were driving themselves nuts over the numbers on a scale. I only weigh in at the surgeon's office. I was weighed at the time of consultation, the pre-surgery visit, the day of the PAT's, the day of surgery, the post-op visit (9 days post-op) and August 8th, when I saw the surgeon last for the update and to advance the diet to regular food introduction. I see the surgeon again on September 8th. There is a support group meeting there tomorrow night and I may ask to be weighed before the meeting. MAYBE!! LOL. I am definitely getting smaller. My clothes are hanging once again on my body instead of being stuffed like a sausage. I can cross my legs again. I see knee caps, I think, yep, definitely knee caps...giggle. My face lost its bloat. My shoes are looser... had to tie my sneakers tighter for my walk this morning. Yes, siree, that is how I judge success.... We are all winners here. Slow and steady wins the race. Do you really think that the human body will keep fat cells full of energy/nourishment when we are not taking in enough calories and we expend so much more by moving more and eating less. It is impossible not to lose and continue to trim down. This is a gradual process... and if it happens too quickly you will pay the price with a lot of very loose, hanging skin, the possibilities of ulcerated skin, sores, rashes and very unpleasant odors from ketosis. Be happy you are healing. Be happy you are going to be a normal weight for the rest of your life... in about a YEAR! PATIENCE, PERSEVERENCE, PERSISTENCE..... LOVE YOU ALL, ShelleyAnne

Today is week three for me and I too have, been the same weight for 1 week, have lost 12lbs since surgery, 25lbs total. Was wondering what I was doing wrong. Was looking for answers and feel a bit relieved now after reading other posts. I now think that I need to increase my water intake and get into more of a routine of exercise. It took me along time to bounce back from surgery, I retained 8-10lbs of water weight. I'm also diabetic, are any of you diabetic and experiencing some of the same things?

Oh, what a relief! I really and truly was feeling depressed that I was doing something wrong and that the surgery would be a failure for me. I lost 32 lbs. the first 2 weeks, and then nothing for about 3-4 days. Finally, I told my husband to get rid of the scale for the time being, and I will not weigh again until I return to the surgeon's office in ten days! PHEW! Y'all don't know how relieved I am to read this thread.
