Is everybody struggling with getting water and protein in?
Yeah, I think this is a very common problem in the beginning. Water goes down great... seems to be the only thing that I want right now. I like the Isopure protein but it makes my throat and ears itchy... almost like an allergic reaction. I don't want to eat... ever. I make myself eat for the health part of it and I'm constantly thinking, "What can I eat that has protein in it. I tried some Mac'n'cheese (highly chewed up). It didn't come back up but my tummy did a flip flop or two, then was fine. It has a LOT of protein. Once we can get some pureed chicken/tuna and stuff, that'll be better. nothing has come back up yet but I have felt some "disagreement" with the tummy on a few occassions.
So, I think it's perfectly normal, just part of this beginning process. Let's all hang in there because it WILL get better!
Yes, I'm struggling too, and I'm four weeks post op. I'm just hoping one day soon, that I turn the corner and it will be much easier.
I can drink water just fine, but I can't drink enough. I have a water bottle with me every waking hour and even one on my nightstand. I used to drink 70+ oz. of water a day, pre-op. I had to make several trips to the restroom. Not now. I just can't hold that much water anymore and I'm lucky if I use the restroom twice a day.
I can't tolerate the protein shakes. I have to force them down and I hate that feeling. I'm wondering about the unflavored protein and mixing it in with Crystal Light, iced tea or coffee? I've tried the Isopure Vanilla powder. Maybe I should switch to Unjury.
I'm eating cottage cheese, egg salad, chicken salad, string cheese, ham......whatever high protein foods I can find, but I require 75 grams of protein a day, and am having a heck of a time getting close to that. I'm not hungry, but when I am hungry............watch out. I've got to eat NOW! I still feel sluggish and I attribute that to the lack of protein. I'm taking all my supplements.
I wish there was a magic solution for getting all the protein we need daily.
Warm wishes,

I've been pretty lucky so far. Everything has stayed down and nothing getting stuck. Only one mini dumping episode that I had a feeling would happen.
I find the protein shakes not too bad to get in. I like the flavours but I am just getting a little bored with them. I use Whey Gourmet strawberry banana smoothie or I use anywhey with sugar free nesquick + a tbsp of peanut butter.
The water I find more challenging to get in just because of the volume. I'm very, very slow sipping.
I find I'm too fast eating though but never have a problem with it. Trying to get myself to slow down a bit more.

I am the same way, I have to force myself to eat everyday and I try to eat 3 meals but sometimes it dosn't happen, I rather drink all day, and I hate this 30 min rule but oh well, my mouth is alot dryer then normal, so I try to drink drink drink, I am not too worried about the protein drinks my dr's don't even want us to take them, so I have been taking lots of water and decaf icetea mmmm ice ice cold gotta love it that way,
Good luck
Ooooh man! The liquid is getting easier. No idea if I'm getting enough, but judging on how often I'm on the pot.. I'd say it's enough. I'm rediscovering things. My taste buds are.. like on high. Everything tastes too strong. I water my CL down about 50/50 to be able to tolerate. My "bland" vanilla protien is now disgustingly over flavored. Even water.. the ones with minerals added taste AWFUL! Getting in the protien is a daily battle. I too am not at all interested in eating. I'm on all puree/soft food until sometime in September. Still learning what my little pouch likes and dosn't like!
Thank goodness for stallone protien pudding, otherwise I'm pretty sure my protien intake would be near nill. But.. I'm going to keep on keeping on, because I know I can make this work for me and find things that DO work!
I was doing great with both water and protein, but I've just returned to work and being more active and out and about during the day has made it much harder. Especially with water, even though I carry my bottle with me. It's just harder to schedule everything--with the eating times and the waiting before and after to drink and the hey hey--along with the rest of life!
I'm doing OK with protein -- here's what I typically have each day:
Breakfast -- No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast (12 grams of protein)
Lunch -- Isopure with Crystal Light Raspberry mixed in (40 grams of protein)
Snack -- South Beach Diet protein Bar (19 grams of protein)
Dinner -- a few bites of either chicken or beef, maybe 1/4 of rice
Snack -- either a protein ball, reduced fat string cheese, or sugar free ice pop
I have to work on drinking more fluids. I'm only getting about 40 ounces per day....not enough........
