Hi Jenny,
I too had surgery the 17th about 3:00 PM, got back to my room and within a half hour decided I needed to go potty, then started walking the floor. I felt as though I had been run over by a big rig for the first 4 days, and I must say as bruised as I was I looked it too. I was realeased Tue. about 2:00PM, so not even 24 hours in the hospital!
I had my follow up appt. on Tue. where they removed the staples and OK'ed me to go back and work half days the rest of the week. The DR also reminded me I had just has MAJOR abdominal surgery and needed to take it easy.
As of today I'm down 26lbs. (that incudes the weight I lost during my two week pre-op liquid diet). I'm thrilled and feeling better everyday, no more soreness, now where the staples were removed it's starting to itch!
I'm already able to wear a couple blouses that wouldn't button before and that along with what the scale tells me makes it all worth it!
I started eating some soft foods a couple days early too, only cottege cheese and tiny slices of cheese though. I am getting all my protein in, and most of my water. My only problem is constipation ... Owch!
With the heat we've been having, it's too hot to go out to walk so I've been on my treadmill.

Jenny,
I started feeling pretty good on Monday the 21st. I've gone out and done something every day since then. I do get tired, but I have a nap every day and feel better. I have no pain.
I can't wait to really start exercising too, I gave myself until Aug 1 to recover, and then I am going to start walking more.
I am getting in 60+ oz of liquids, but nowhere near enough protein.
I am very tired of liquids! Actually what I am tired of is everything I can eat is SWEET! UGH. I hate that. I'm not really hungry, but want to eat something I can chew. I have to wait until Aug 3rd when I see the surgeon to change my diet to the next level. Yikes! It's really hard.
I hope you feel better soon!

I had surgery on the 17th too. My engery level is pretty low, but I am still on stage 2 liquids till tomorrow. I know its from the lack of protein. I don't feel hung over anymore but my back does hurt alot, I think its from not walking completely up-right and sleeping on my back every night. The hungover feeling for me went away a couple of days after I got off the pain meds, they made me very sick to my stomach. I am so sick of soup I could scream (there is nothing like eatting soup when its 102 degrees outside!), thank goodness today is the last day of soup for me. I havent been exercising, I get to light headed walking to far without taking a break. I do go out to the store with my mom, and walk target, the grocery store, things like that. I think I will start exercising more after next week! I got my staples out of Friday which made me feel much better. Im down 14 pounds sinces surgery, Im averaging a pound a day.
Good wishes to you!
Yvette
Hi Yvette!
I totally agree how sick of soup and liquids I am!! I had surgery the 19th but have to be on liquids for 2 more weeks? What is your nutrition plan? I'm curious to find out others' experiences the first month because I'm having a rough time. I checked out your page and our info is very similar. I live in Northern California (Northeastern, actually in a small town called Westwodo). I'm 27 and started this whole process at 262 lbs.
Good luck and hope you continue feeling better!
I had surgery on the 17th too. I've lost about 21 lbs. I'm on a pureed diet, but I've cheated and began eating chicken cut up into tiny pieces and chewing it very well. I've mostly been eating mashed potatoes and the chicken now..
I'd have to agree with you all.. I'm getting really tired of eating the mushy foods and stuff. I've been drinking A LOT, even though my surgeon told me not to.. I'm so thirsty and I just can't help it! I also haven't been eating as much as I'm supposed too.. I'm not hungry so eating just seems silly..
My pain basically disappeared after 1 week. The only thing is I feel a little sore when trying to sit up from a laying position. I also feel funny when I'm in bed and I go from my back to my side. Other than that, I'm doing good.
Suprisingly enough, I've actually been walking. The only thing I noticed is when I walk for a while, my shoulders really start to hurt.
wow,i think all in all we are all doing so well!!thankgod!oh yeah it definatly gets tiring with the sweet stuff.i have been doing sooo much research and checking around the boards and internet, there is a wealth of recipes out there that are even better and tastier than ever!i just posted on the main board to get recipes,i just cannot believe all of the yummy things!!that is so weird,i feel the same exact way rolling onto my sides too.my tummy gets less and less sore each day,and i cant wait to wear some jeans.for the moment though i cant stand anything on my stomach!i think providing we pay attention to our meals and snacks,we should be able to eat what we can tolerate individually, dont you?glad your all doing well!!post soon girls for updates!jenny.
