Loser 1 week out!
I have lost 12 lbs as of this AM. I am on clear liquids right now and i am soooo sick of it. Jello, broth, water and popsicles suck. Tomorrow I have a post op appt. I should be moved to the soft foods which are runny mashed potatoes, grits, cream of wheat and the like. I am looking forward to it! I went back to work yesterday. I have a sit down office job and i worked for about 6.5 hours. Today i am back on a pretty regular 8 hr work schedule. I am coming in a little later than usual but still getting in 8 hrs. I am having some head hunger issues for sure. A couple bites of a soft foods usually helps. All in all i feel good. My incisions look good. I am putting neosporin on them every day. Today is also my second day without pain meds and i am not missing them too much. When i wake up i am in a bit of pain but i sleep on my stomach so it might have something to do with that. Hope everyone else is doing well!
Hi Penelope! Congratulations on your weight loss! I'm a short 5 days ahead of you, and I had the head hungers BAD. When I could finally have soft foods I had a scrambled egg and it was the best thing I'd ever tasted! I felt pretty deprived on the liquids, and asked myself what I'd done!!! Then the weight starts to fall off and you get to add to the diet and whoooppeeeee let the weight loss journey begin! Best of luck!!! wendi
i had the small incisions and steri strips as well. my doctor said PLEASE make sure to take those off before you come back to see me. i went back less than 2 weeks out. he said i could remove them 6-7 days after surgery. i am glad you are home and feeling better. it gets better with the food thing.

Hello, i am now 1 week post op also and when you talk about head hunger, i feel you.
The thing is that my surgeon wants to keep me on the liquid diet for 4 weeks!!!
It is difficult to see my children and my husband eat and the day after i came home, i cried all day because i was regretting the whole thing BUT one of my friends called me and told me that i had to stay positive and get rid of the negativity!! I take it day by day but i am still struggling with the protein part of it!! Today, i pretty much had nothing to eat (i mean drink)

Hi Helen,
You're not alone. I am supposed to be on liquids for 4 weeks also. I was supposed to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks and then "full" liquids for 2 weeks (up to like cream of wheat/cream of chicken soup, etc.). It stinks!! I have been doing the whole "regretting" thing, too. It's hard, I'll tell you that, but I keep telling myself that in a month I'll be back to normal and loving life. I lsot 12 lbs. my first week (no idea what I weigh now after 2 weeks) so that was nice. I can't wait to get home (I'm staying with my parents in Southern Cal) so I can weigh myself! That'll probably give the encouragement for all of this!
Liquid diet for 4 weeks, that's just insane?!!?!? I was able to eat soft foods as soon as I left the hospital. I'm able to eat chicken, turkey, salmon, fruits, vegetables (all in the can) and so much more. I do, however, miss eating some good hearty food. I can't imagine going through that, good luck to you!!!
Pene, so glad to hear you are doing good. I can't imagine going back to work that soon. You go girl! I go back next Friday, although I am working one of my other jobs from home. I have the steri-strips as well on my 6 incisions, but they didn't say to take them off. Congrats on the 12 pounds, that's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!
