One week out
Hello July Babies!
I just thought I'd post my current state.
I'm doing really great (as far as I can tell!). I'm able to get up and move around pretty well...by myself. I've not had any problems with any of my pureed foods...I've had chicken, tuna, refried beans, cottage cheese, various fruits and applesauce. My incision line looks like it's healing pretty well. I get my staples out tomorrow, as well as my first appt. with the Surgeon, so we'll see how much I've offically lost this week. My scales tell me I'm probably going to be over 10 pounds (in one week!). I've been out and about a few times since getting home....trips to the grocery store and home improvement stores (parents are in town and helping with a few projects). So far I've not had many hunger pains or tempatations. The first day home from the hospital "real food" made my stomach turn....now it's just there. Heck, I'm still able to watch the Food Network without much trouble!
7 more weeks of puree may be a challenge though. I'm not getting all my protien and liquids in yet...but working up everyday. This will take some concentration and planning! Other struggles so far have been eating/drinking slow. I was a gulper...so the sip sip sip lifestyle and the chew chew chew have been a "concentrate on this" kind of thing for me. I'm also fighting boredom....I'm used to being on the go and able to do what I want. I'm having a hard time resting and taking care to not lift/push things. There are so many little projects to do around the house, and I simply can't do them yet...frustrating!
Anyway, just wanted to put this out there for anyone interested!

Glad you are back and doing well. Get plenty of rest and relax ! A lot of the people in my support group who did well like you said their biggest regret was pushing to hard and not getting as much rest as they probably should have because they were feeling well. They said when you feel good afterwards it's easy to forget how much was really moved around and worked on inside so they wished they had done things like take off the maximum time they could from work, etc. Don't get me wrong they didn't mention having any complications or anything because of it, they were just telling me this because I asked if looking back on their surgery if they had any advice for me and this was one of the things they mentioned (take it easy, rest, and relax even if you feel good). Anyway, I figured I'd pass on their wisdom since you seem a little antsy. It's still terrific that you are doing so well and nice to hear since I go in next Monday!
Hi!
We had surgery the same day! Glad to hear you are doing good too. I get my staples out on Monday, I can't wait! As of today I am down 11 pounds. I am super bored too! I got 6 weeks off of work and right now I dont know what to do with my time. Since its still pretty hot here, its hard to go out during the day for walks so I go out in the evening.

We have very similar situations and I'm bored out of my mind!!!!!!!!!! I've never wanted to much Tivo in my life. I went to Walmart and bought some paint by number and ceramic stuff to paint with my son. I just can't sit here anymore. I'm used to never being at home.
Can't wait to hear your number! Keep up the good work,
Amber
