Hello everyone! I had my surgery the 20th of this month and DH wrote in to update. I felt as though I was alone and wondered why in the world did I do this to myself...!
I was grieving and missing my food that took care of me all negatively speaking. This is not easy and for those who think that they have prepared themselves you are in for a rude awakening.
I was doing great and in my hospital room walking nothing really hurt. I did not need the nurses as I plugged my own IV unit in and my leg inflatables in as well.
When I was home I smelled good food and seen it all around. Hubby cooks great and we have boys so they cant help it....
I had a very bad day yesterday and felt like I could not take it anymore...... I have snapped out of it. But, want to say this is a huge huge huge change in our lives!
I am so grateful for my husband who has been on my toes to keep my fluids going and protein.......
I am tired a ton and am waiting for this pain in my left side to go away!
I went to the doctors this morning and he said it was a pocket of blood behind some plate thingy........ So a hematoma. And it is so painful pain medication is not cutting it!
It will get better and I thank all of you who have emailed me and reply to my post!

melissa i am glad you are feeling better. you are so right girl! i had 18 months to prepare and i thought i was going ot have surgery and just be ok and not want anything. so wrong. i am getting better as my surgery was the 10th but i am hungry alot not sure if its mental or if i really am. i didnt realize what a change would come. it will be worth it though. next year we will be all trim and helping others that will be in our situation. i have 2 kids and my husband also cooks good and loves to eat. hes not overweight though. i just want to drink a bunch real fast like i used to. and that is a huge no no. i feel lik ei am always thirsty.
anyway good luck melissa and keep me posted.

Melissa, Im 2 weeks out and Ive had a few meltdowns myself. Its not easy sipping when everyone else is chewing what u think are your favorite foods. I also just miss going out to eat...it was our socialization... we did it everynight... Its what we did with family and friends. Its been a HUGE change. It is making it slightly easier watching the scale go down daily.
I hope u are still feeing well and if u ever need to vent I still have broad shoulders feel free to email me anytime

Hi Melissa,
I am scheduled to have the RNY on August 11th. I was hoping to make some buddies who are recent to this surgery to assist me with all of these changes. I am definitely expecting the "depression" to hit when I will think I am missing food initially. I can totally understand why the support groups are so crucial in this. Well I hope you are feeling better and if you care to correspond, my email is [email protected]. Thank you.
