Surgery on July 31, and the only fear I have is that table... I was told by many people that they get themselves on that table... Well, I am really scared of that... To date nothing has really fazed me..JUST THAT I flew through the pre op.. Hey I am terrified of needles and that band around the wrist but it didn't faze me.. I was fine... But that damned table makes my skin crawl... Arlene

yes you do have to put your self on the tabe but try not to worry about it too much because just a minute later you'll be in sleepy land hehe! just remember you only have to get yourself on the table once! thank god! good luck and don't worry!! Sondra

Hun You are getting your surgery at Barix - this is all they do. They are used to 200, 300 and 400 pound people. Don't be embarrassed at all. They do this all the time (assisting heavy people with these things) so no reason to be embarrassed. Good luck with your surgery Arlene! I hope you'll post on the ON board too all about it! Dawn

too funny! i had the same fear. i was 1/2 cookey and telling them oh i hate that yall will be hurting your backs trying to get me to the table. one snooty nurse said were not you are. but i had the drugs and didnt care. i was also very shy about knowing that they were going to put a cath in me also! good luck with your surgery. misty

Hey Arlene, Don't worry about it! I had my Lap RNY done on the 10th and I was knocked out less than a minute after kissing my DH goodbye... So the staff had to move my dead weight...Besides, I can tell you as a RN that we move people all the time when they're awake and when they're asleep, with their help,or without it, and never think twice about it, unless they are very dirty...And I mean dirty to the point of "is it safe to touch this person?" I'm sure that won't be you!!! You will be great, and hopefully you won't even remember! Kate J PS I apologized in advanced because I felt guilty about the staff moving me and they laughed at me! Not in a mean way, but in a "aren't you funny and isn't that a funny thing to worry about" way. Remember 99% of the people in the hospital real want to help you, and for you to get well! I'll be thinking of you
