Back from Surgery - Rough couple of days

My surgery was on Wednesday and I stayed 2 nights in the hospital. When I got home on Friday, I was pretty sore. Heads up, the car ride was really rough. Everytime we hit a bump, it hurt pretty bad. Try to find a smooth car to be picked up in, lol! My surgery was at 7:15am and I got to my room around 1pm. I was in Recovery for a while because they didn't have a room for me, not that I really noticed what was going on, I was pretty out of it. The rest of that day is a blur. I had a lot of drugs so didn't feel much pain. Thursday and yesterday were really rough days with a LOT, a LOT a LOT of pain. I didn't realize I'd be in that much pain. I think the majority of it was from gas, which I didn't start passing until this morning. I feel much better today but still have some pain in the abdomen area. I was also experiencing very low blood pressure in the hospital so they were concerned about that. I'm having a hard time getting all my protein. I can only handle about 1/2 or maybe 3/4 of an oz at a time and then I feel slightly queasy and very full. Any suggestions on this? I am very tired, already had a nap today and will probably have at least 1 more. I'm taking it easy, watching episodes of the West Wing and just hanging out. I'm staying with my parents for the first 2 weeks. My mom is a nurse, which is awesome. I had a rough night last night and after talking to my doctor, almost went to the ER, but my mom took my vitals and my doc and I decided to wait and see how I felt in a few hours. I feel much better now so I think I'm out of the woods. I can't wait to start feeling normal again, though! For those of you about to head into surgery this week... WALK, WALK, and WALK... this is the only thing that made me feel better, also cool showers help me. I take laps around the house once every hour or two. It also hurts to lay back in a reclining position. I either need to lay all the way flat or sit straight up or my abdomen hurts. Thanks everyone for your support!

Sorry to hear you had such a rough time. Did you have open or lap? I had almost NO pain other than when I first woke up from anesthesia, and that was from pain in my back from lying flat on the operating table for so long without moving. Recovery has been a breeze, but every time I eat or drink I feel crappy after for at least 30 minutes, no matter what it is I ate.

The pain has subsided quite a bit. I had a lap RNY. I can only drink liquids at this point for two weeks and I've had a couple of times where I've felt very sick. I can't wait until i can eat oatmeal or cottage cheese or something other than liquid. I keep feeling queasy and weak from all this liquid.
