i'm home-2 days post op
I've gotta say i am having a hard time adjusting. I feel like i can't see very well either! My contacts and glasses are not working like they used to. I was going crazy in the hospital, just wanted to be home in my bed. I was discharged yesterday and have slept a lot since then. I have to crush up my vicodin to take it. I haven't figured out the best way to take my effexor yet. i just feel odd.
2 days post op and you're home??!! No wonder you feel odd! I had lap RNY on 7/13 and spent 4 days in the hospital - my doctor doesn't like rushing patients home. I sincerely wouldn't have been ready to be home after only 2 days - mentally or physically.
Hang in there and I'm really hoping you have someone at your home to help you!!

I take effexor too. I HATED adjusting to it after surgery. I could not take it at all until about 4 days post op. It made me soooo sick. I told the doc that and he chuckled and said "now you know why I didn't give it to you in the hospital". I am finally able to take my effexor but I had to take it with mashed potatoes or something like that or it would make me want to throw up or have bad, bad diarrhea. You might need to start taking it every other day for a few days at first. That is what I had to do to get my body used to it again.

PENELOPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, WE MADE IT, SWEETIE! I went into the hospital on Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. - surgery at 7:30 a.m. Woke up from surgery with no pain! Took the drugs for the next 24 hours and then was discharged on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. I took an extra hit of the drugs for pain for the car ride home. Friday was weird but managable. I am doing clear fluids. Cannot stand protein yet. I broke my pill that I take every morning and swollowed with some water, no problem. I feel fantastic! No pain. Filled the scrip for pain meds...but have not taken one yet. Had gas release on Friday and a BM this morning. I am drinking constantly. Walking around the house cause it is too hot here to walk outside, and besides we have been having a lot of thunder storms, as well. My luck I would get struck by lightning after going through this! LMAO. Anyway, call the surgeon, tell him about the eye blurriness and the medication you are having trouble with. HE HAS SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS - THAT IS WHAT HE IS PAID TO DO. I am so glad you are home and we made it through. Now our work begins - first healing - then adjusting to the phases of food during healing - exercising - and then re-entering the world of whole foods but in smaller portions and in health, forever. I am so excited. Write to me when you feel up to it and can see. I am thinking of you. ShelleyAnne
i am so happy to hear you are doing well! My eye bluriness has gone away (i think it was from the anethstetia) I am feeling much better today. Meds are going down okay too. Just had to get the hang of it! I am going to be soooo sick of jello by the end of the week. As of right now the only pain i am feeling is pressure in my abdomen, swelling and such. I can't walk outside either. it is ONLY 102 degrees here today (yes that is on the low end) so i am trying to walk around inside as much as possible. I do have total ADD right now, which helps with activity. I can't seem to sit still for more than a minute. I can't believe you haven't taken a pain pill yet! They really help me sleep. I am so glad we made it thru safely!!!
