Hi everyone - I'm 12 days post-op and I've been having SOOOOO much trouble getting water in. I've tried room temp, I've tried ice cold and whatever I do makes me feel really funny. Not nauseous but sort of weird odd inside. like an odd pressure. i'm not gulping, i'm sipping and trying to put my glass down after every sip... this only happens with water! i can eat just fine, oj mixed with water is fine, protein shakes are fine. am i weird? crazy? or has anyone else experienced this? my doctor says i just need to drink fluids. i'm trying but... thanks! same thing with me!! u find that if i alternate it with something else it doesn't bother me as much so if you have water in one glass and say juice in another i take one drink of water then a drink of juice it helps me and it also seem like i get my water down quicker. Sounds kind of weird i know but it works for me! Sondra

I'm sorry Deb. Have you tried Crystal Light or Iced Tea? That might help you increase your water intake, after all, they are just flavored water, right? I have just the opposite problem. I love water and have completely lost my taste for coffee. I can't get enough water. I drink it all day long and wish I could drink more. I just don't have that "my thirst is quenched" feeling. I want to gulp and guzzle, but no way would I even try it! I'm 13 days post op and eating soft foods. I'm scared because everything I have tried, has stayed down. I did try a protien bar that might have given me a "mini-dump". I just got all hot and clammy and lightheaded after eating it. It was my lunch and it took me 30 min to nibble away at it. My doctor's office said that quite often WLS patients have difficulty with the "taste" of water or getting all their water in. In fact, they recommend flavoring it with lemon, Crystal Light or whatever, to make sure you get the water down. Good luck. Lynette

At first I had to drink my water room temp then I needed it to be cold. I do get a weird feeling with it sometimes but I also switch between 2 different drinks at a time. That seems to help alot. It is quite normal for post-ops to not like the taste of water or not be able to tolerate it. Just experiment with different things and in time your pouch will get used to it and not cause you any more greif. sip sip sip! Kim

Yes, it makes me feel sick sometimes, too. It makes me feel kind of queasy in a way. It's hard to describe the sensation.
