Finally......I am a loser!

Hello to everyone! Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes! I had surgery on July 11th and I was home on July 13th. It went a whole lot better than I thought and boy was I nervous right up until the time they put me under. I did relax when the nurse that was preparing me for the surgery told me her sister had the surgery last year and has lost 115 lbs. She said her sister used to be a manager at Lane Bryant and she had a garage sale last weekend to get rid of her fat clothes! I was thinking "Thank you Jesus for another confirmation!" The hospital service was terrible and I was glad my mother was with me for the first 24 hours. I had to deal with the nurses not answering in a timely fashion and the cafeteria giving me regular jello and popsicles. It was crazy! The last meal they only brought me hot tea and broth! I did not feel like messing with it as I was glad I was leaving that afernoon. I have had four kids in 3 different hospitals and I have never had such a bad experience. Dr Capehart is awesome but Drs Hospial sucks! I had open RNY and gall bladder removal, but you will not believe how tiny my scar is!!! Not that I plan to wear a bikini, but it is really tiny! I don't remember a lot of pain, but i was sore. Don't get me wrong.....I utilized that morphine pump to the fullest until they took it away. I took oral meds for two days after I came home. My incision just feels really tight, but I am not in any pain at all. My surgery started after 9am and the Dr met my family around noon and took them to my room. When I woke up in recovery, all I remember saying is "Thank you Jesus!" My mom said I slept for another hour or so and that is when I woke up and I was dry heaving. I just wanted some ice chips or something to put in my mouth. Once I got the ice, I was okay. I went for a walk twice that day. I walked every chance I got and I know that really helped with my recovery. Since I have been home, I have walked every evening for at least 15-20 mins as well. Just like everyone else the head hunger is driving me crazy, but it is getting better daily. I know that it will get better once I can chew something. Last night I thought I was going to die when my family ordered pizza. I was trying to remember the last time I had pizza...LOL I knew they were going to order the pizza so I already planned to take my walk at that time. I guess I am one of those that will be lactose intolerant as a result of this surgery. I have been eating yogurt all along but as of yesterday I started cramping. I am disappointed but I knew going in it may be a possiblitly that would happen. I love milk, cheese, etc! The good thing is at least I know what to eat if I have problems with constipation....LOL Guys, I am so happy I made this decision and I know I am going to be sooooooooo happy in the upcoming months. I am looking forward to this journey with all of you and I know we will support each other all that we can! Good Luck to all of you that are still waiting and just know I pray for each and everyone of you!

So glad to hear you are doing so well, and so GLAD to know I won't be at Doctor's hospital. I am at Vista a small hospital in Garland. Stayed one night there last week and was very good experience. How are you walking in the evening in this HEAT? I almost died today getting out to go to the dentist. The temp. at Town East was 104 at about 3. Thank you so much for you note, it really cheered me when I saw the email with your name on it. So very very happy for you, and can't wait to join you. Bobbie

Hi Bobbie! You are right! This Texas heat is no joke!!! I actually wait until after 9pm to take my walk and it is still hot. The heat is almost suffocating! I did not mention the day I returned from the hospital, our A/c was on the blink! Yikes! Luckily, it was repaired before night fall because the temp was triple digits on that day as well.
