Hi everyone. I came home from the hospital on July 12th. I have had so many family members around that I haven't had a chance to get on the computer. I'm doing really good. I swear if I didn't have 7 insicions and some tightness in my stomach area, I would think that I hadn't had surgery. I have been walking every day since I got home and doing the liquids until tomorrow. Yeah, soft foods. I hope everyone is doing great. Take care, Chris

Hi Kimberly. Thanks for the encouragement. I have been walking about a block every morning before it gets too hot. Plus I went to the grocery store yesterday and walked the whole store. My husband was so cute, he wouldn't even let me pick up anything. The day of surgery I had to get up and walk around the room and then the next morning I had to walk 12 laps around the unit, plus I had to walk down to do the barium test and back up to my room, that was kind of a stretch, but I did it. Good luck with your surgery, I will keep you in my prayers. Chris

Hi ShelleyAnne. I know you are excited. This really is an exciting time. Actually this whole process has suprised me and my family. Everyone thought I would be feeling horrible. But so far I have been doing really good. I was only in the hospital a little over 24 hours when I came home. The walking really helps with the gas pains too. Some will have the gas pains right after surgery, or you might be like me and it will come a few days after surgery. But so far it hasn't been bad. Do you have to do the bowel prep? I know fun stuff. My nurse gave me a great tip at my last visit visit before surgery with the doctor. My surgery was on Tuesday, my bowel prep was on Monday, she said if you are going to have a last "meal" do it 2 days prior to the bowel prep. She said the day before eat something pretty light and thats all that will be cleaned out. I'm so glad she told me that. Also, do you have to drink the IsoPure's the first few days? I had to drink 2 bottles a day. One I added crystal light fruit punch to it and the other I added a little bit of s/f jello (strawberry banana) to it, and they weren't too bad. Plus I also added it and some ice to my bullet and had a slushie. I hope everything goes great for you on the 19th. I will keep you in my prayers. Chris

Hi Chris: Thanks for "thumbs up" for me on Wednesday. Yep, I am doing the bowel prep on Tuesday and some medications to take, as well. I was told "NO LAST MEAL". I am on clear fluids until the surgery, then after home, another week of clear fluids until I see the doctor and nutritionist again. I am so hungry and weak already. Went to a pool party yesterday and the food was never ending. I sat there and had vitamins, IsoPure Zero Carb RTD, water and a sugarfree jello cup. NOT FUN! We left before the desserts starting appearing..... that would have been cruel and inhumane for pre-surgery person to go through. I did not wanna ruin it for the "foodaholics" in the family. LOL. I really like the IsoPure. Love the powder one in flavor: MANGO PEACH. really easy to tolerate now... will see how it goes down post-op. I am having 5 incisions, no drain, no nasal tube and will be home on Thursday night if all is well. The doctor wants me to speak at the support group meeting on Thursday at the hospital, if I feel okay to do that, to tell them how it was.... ewwwwwwwwww.... on drugs, gassy, tired and anxious to get home - what a motivational speech that will be. Anyway, thanx for writing to me. I cannot wait to get this done already!
