Topic: I have not been around much
I have not been around much but I do lurk and watch how everyone is doing. Sue you are very brave to post those pictures and you look FANTASTIC! Tim - awesome news about the job and you too look fantastic. Andrea and Peter - we need more wedding details and how life is living in the same city. Everyone else who is about to submit to insurance to have your plastics covered, my fingers are crossed for you. We tried over the winter submitting to my insurance and they denied saying they will not pay until I am two years out. That is fine, I do not mind waiting if it means they will pay for it! I am 4 days post op right now though. I had to have an emergency (well not super emergency, had a week of planning) hysterectomy. I was losing so much blood I had to get an emergency blood transfusion. I was down over 4 pints of blood. Hopefully now with this surgery I will be fine and not have to worry about my iron levels (which have been in the toilet since my gastric) and I will not have to worry about my hemoglobin levels (which have been in the toilet the last month or so). I hope all of the other lurkers out there are doing well. Hugs, Nancy

Mo ~ I didn't see a copy of the referral so I'm not sure if it was for the Panniculectomy or Abdominoplasty. I'm hoping abdominoplasty - I've have four major abdominal surgeries and one minor - don't care about the scars just the sagging caused by both being overweight and weakening of the muscles from the other surgeries. My PCM said the tummy tuck is the one surgery that my insurance won't "laugh" at. My husband is active duty military. My PCM is a military doctor and very familiar with our insurance; so I'm hoping he's write. I've known several other women from the area who've all gotten the tummy tucks covered. There sagging was about the same as mine. I've also "documented" rashes at several visits with my PCM and my bariatric doctor. Docmenting meaning - they asked "do you have rashes" and my immediate response of "of course - red, itchy".....They actually perform some plastic surgery at military hospitals because the surgeons need to keep their skills fresh so they can take care of the wounded, disfigured soldiers coming home from the war. Take care, Maria

Hi Maria.. My PCP also submitted yesterday for me. The paper work was forwarded back to him from the Plastic Surgeons because he is what they called the 'Gatekeeper' of my medical crap.. or some such thing they said.. I am hopeful though of at least one procedure getting approved. You sound very sure that they will cover the Tummy Tuck, and I sure hope so.. but what makes you confidant of that?.. I really want to be, but I'm afraid to be... Did they submit for Pannis Removal or Abdominoplasty for you? peace Mo

Sue ~ The pics are phenomenal! I'm so jealous. My PCM did put me in for a plastics referral yesterday, but right now there's only 1 plastic surgeon in the area that accepts our insurance (I'm pretty sure they'll cover the tummy tuck but nothing else). We'll see how the consult goes. We'll be moving to Idaho soon so I may just wait and see if there are more surgeons in that area. I'm not sure how tall you are (I'm 5'8"); but we started around the same weight and ended around the same weight (well, before you lost the 8 pounds after your plastics) so it gives me a good idea of results. I'm about 10 years younger but have had numerous other abdominal surgeries that have contributed to my sagginess. I'd love to get my arms and inner thighs done....maybe in a few years. Congrats, Maria 272/155/147 pre/post/current

Ok guys, ya asked for it, ya got it. BEWARE....... I am doing great, I did pop loose one stitch right above my butt crack but it's healing nicely and the doc says that is one stress point that happens often. I have no pain, have been off pain meds since 5 days post op, just trying to force myself to sit still, which is hard for me to do. These pics aren't too graphic I hope, tried to cover up the "odd areas".... I know everyone contemplating PS is like me and wants to truly see the results. I hope nobody is offended, if you are, then I apologize up front. Sue http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/sgrissett/

Topic: RE: So how are things?
Finished the inside of the house stuff last week and the projects were completed on time and really liven the place up. I'm now takling the yard and exterior. Painted a short picket fence on the side today. Last week, my son and I fell our 40' apple tree. I should fini**** this week: firewood! Our daughter's 70x10 memorial garden had really grown over last summer: yucca, juniper and coreopsis are cut way back and lillies are thinned. Tomorrow , I'll mulch if the weather mantains. Three more larger projects remain: painiting the rear of the house, fixing deck lattice work the dog enjoyed, rebuilding a retraining wall, and re- privacy fencing sides of the yard. About one more month's work, then it's off to school for insurance and mortgages. I still feel this 57 year old bod, but my stamina allows me to triple what I was doing pre wls! I'm pleased that everyones plastics are healing positively. Dave Where's Malabu? Dave
