5'6" tall, 150 lbs. At goal!!! My bmi is 24.2 (normal) and I used to think the weight ranges were unrealistic and that I'd never fall within the range, but now I do.
I definitely notice being older and giving birth twice really makes a difference in the BMI. I feel like I still weigh a lot, but I'm a size 8, so I'm not complaining, but I would think at a size 8, I would be in the 130's.

I'm so sorry about your niece. I hope everything works out with your nephew and the foster family adopting him. He's lucky to have you.

Topic: BMI Poll
Now that we are about 15 months out, I'm curious about where people are on the BMI chart. So here is a poll:
What is your BMI?
Are you at goal? If not, what is your goal BMI?
Do you feel the BMI weight ranges are reasonable for your height?
My answers:
Current BMI: 29.2
Goal BMI: 27
I think the BMI charts are reasonable for most people at my height (5'2"), but I will probably always be in the overweight range. My surgeon has said that the BMI ranges are too low for post-bariatric people.

Oh Peter, I'm so sorry.
What a tragedy. I'm glad her son is safe. I'm so sorry your niece felt she had to do that. I hope she has found the peace that eluded her in life.
I am sad for you and will be thinking of you and your family.
Take care and {{{hugs}}}

Peter, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I lost one of my childhood friends to a similar situation a couple years ago. At least her son is being properly cared for and is young enough to not be permanently scarred by this. I pray for you and your family.
God bless
Tim

As many of you know I shared with you back in June that I was very involved with taking away my niece's son. She was a 20 year herion user and living on the streets with a 2 year old. We got him into foster care and her into treatment.
Well last night 1 day before "graduating" from the treatment program and on her 36th birthday, my niece died from a herion overdose. It is easy to speculate about what went wrong when it was looking like she was doing so well, but we will never know. My guess is that the pressure and fear of going back out into the "real" world was to much for her and she turned back to the only way she felt she could to cope. I'm thankful that when this happened her and her son were off the streets. How horrible could this have been if she had done this when they were living in the abandoned warehouse. He is safe and the foster parents that have been caring for him the last several months may be interested in adopting him permanently.
When things like this happen it really helps me keep my "problems" in perspective. Bless each and everyone of you and cherish the moments you have with family and friends. You never know when you won't have another chance.
