so, i did a search on metformin- the medication the infertility dr said he would probaby put me on because of the insulin resistance with the clomid-
my blood draw is in the morning- I HATE NEEDLES- that was the worst part of the gastric bypass for me- the needles !!!
anywhoo- i'm just so wondering- if that's why i stopped losing at 5 months out- bam- nothing- if i have PCOS (insulin resistance) it's harder to lose weight- and this metformin- works with the insulin levels- that I would start losing again??? even if it's 10-20 pounds GOSH, i would be so happy... then i think- CR*P- if that's what did it- and the dieticians and the after care- didn't catch THAT- or recommend i go see an endocrinolgist like 10 MONTHS ago- to be put on this little pill- come on... they knew I KNEW i have PCOS- it's in the chart- i've known it for years- i was on metformin- but i gained before (of course- i gave me a reason to EAT more- but I can't eat as much as I did before-) so maybe this time- on the metformin- i could keep losing- now you see where my mind- just focuses on one thing and i can't let go... uhm...
i'm still fine with not losing- but if this IS WHY - come on...

Hi Linda. Good to hear you are doing so well. I am glad you know you should not compare your progress to others, but I think that is human nature. How cool is it to have all those health issues crossed off the list of life? A couple of days ago I was cleaning out my wallet and come across a card my pcp had given me to fill out all my meds I take daily because there were so many I would have a hard time remembering when I saw another doctor. Well, I looked at it and realized I am not taking any of them at all anymore! that was a great feeling. You take care and come around more often. Best wishes to your friend on her upcoming surgery!
Topic: Saying Hi!
Hey,
A friend of mine is having lap band surgery next week. It got me to thinking that I haven't look at this site in ages!
I thought I would stop in for a quick Hi!
A quick update... my surgery was July 26, 2005 and to date I have lost 113 lbs. I am just 6 lbs over my recommended weight for my height. And I still seem to be loosing in really really really small amounts. I honestly, in my best case idea of outcome, never thought I would be this small.
I was one of the "slow loosers" which is one of the reasons I quit coming to the site. I would be so happy with my progress...and then I would come here and feel like I was WAY behind. It silly, I know now!
I had to have a physical a week or so ago. And I had to check all those boxes of "health issues that I have ever had". Just checking ALL those boxes reminded me, yet again, just HOW unhealthy I was. And better yet...NOT ONE of those boxes I checked is something I have today!! I have literally NO medical issues at all right now!
I feel great!!! And having the surgery is still the best decision I ever made for myself!
Hope you are all equally doing as well. I am going to go browse the site and see how you have all been doing!
Linda

Topic: RE: OT.....My daughter
That's her problem, she won't continue swimming in collage. She doesn't want to, don't know why. I (we, DH and I) are disappointed since she has been swimming since she has been in 4th grade and all the money and time that we have put into this. But what can we do, she will have to pay for collage somehow. She has been accepted to Bemidji in MN.

Congratulations Tammy! I know you are proud. This is exciting for all of you. What school/college is she going to? Could she possibly get a swimming scholarship to help pay for the degree that makes her living someday? (I was always trying to come up with ways for my son to pay for his college!---old habits die hard lol)

Topic: RE: infertility dr appointment
I just had to let you know that my twins are through IVF. I had to do all the shots and everything else but it was worth it and I got two for the price of one (sort of, we had to do it twice). I went through Reproductive Medicine in Mpls Dr Nagel, he is wonderful. Just wanted you to know that someone else has been through all this and if you even need to talk I'm here.
Good Luc****ep me posted!

Topic: OT.....My daughter
I'm so proud, she is going to sections for swimming and her coach says that she has a VERY good chance at State for her breast stroke and for her relay. Cottage Grove / Park Girls swim team hasn't been to State in years. This being her senior year this is very exciting for her and us. I just wish that she was continuing her swimming in collage, but I guess it's more important to get good grades and get a degree in something she can make a living with.
