My suggestion is to try Foxtons. I think they only take 3%. But if your not in a real hurry, try to advertise yourself. Put an ad in the paper, or one of those free home shopper magazines. I feel the same away about giving those agents 6%. That comes out to a whole crap load of money! And for what? They dont do all that much. I work for an attorney whose practice is about 90% real estate. I dont know if your able to, but you can see if there's any way that you can get your home listed in the MLS services without having a realtor. I did recently see a commercial for "BuyOwner.com" Try checking that out. There's somethign out there that will take less than 6%. Even if you do the foxtons, at least thats only 3%. Good Luck!!

Hi Tammy.. I just now read your post and I can say for me that don't think there are any deep dark clicks out there preventing any of us from coming out of hiding. I'm still around.. and at 149 pounds to boot!
Just a little more busier these days and much happier in many ways. I miss all the folks on this board and hope to see all of you writing a few lines now and then.
take care everybody!!

It is sad that more don't post more often. I for one check everyday (5-10 times) but I don't always have time to post. I think and this is my opinion ONLY..... There are some people on this board that only reply to people they know very well or are very "close" to. I try and post or reply to everyone if I have an opinion or a suggestion. I sure hope that people start coming back and asking questions, or concerns about the WL journey. I know for me being able to ask questions help me keep on track (even though I fall off) every so often.
Now that I most likely upset a few people; sorry but like I said this was only MY opinion.

Topic: Real Estate Question
I am going to put my home on the market to sell within 2 weeks. I got to thinking about it today and am SICK at having to pay 6% commission. Has anyone ever sold their home "By Owner"?
I have no clue what all legally would be involved and how knowledgeable a person would have to be to get this done.

I am a long time lurker. I love you guys, even if I don't post much. I only have internet at work so I have to "sneak" on and check in. I love this board and it helps me to know I'm not alone in the battle.

Lisa, I started "lurking" on this board right after my surgery, and finally joined in a bit the last few months. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone here, and still check in most days and it's kinda sad that there is little activitiy anymore. But I always felt part of a great group here at July 05! (By the way, I have read your profile and talk about inspiring! You so have to publish your story! )

Pammy-
So good to hear from you! Sorry about your conundrum, but it will all work out for the best-- At least I keep telling myself that!
Keep in touch sweetie!

Topic: I remember
I remember quite a few months ago when someone went and checked the July 2004 board and commented on how dead it was over there. We were all hopeful that it wouldn't happen to us. I know it's inevitable but it still makes me sad. We have all clung to each other through this journey and I feel I know so many of you and feel like you are my friends. I miss you all and think of you often as we are all going about our daily lives.
Just wanted to get that out there. I miss it here a lot.
Hugs everyone. You guys helped me get through one of the most trying (and rewarding, too!) times in my life.

What a privilege it is to read the special messages where you've shared unique wisdom, insight, and caring. I think you're on the right track: your options appear solid. I like the consultant idea mainly because it provides a greater measure of options.
I retire next month into a healthier life filled with so many options (after the honey-dos).
For now, I'm going to be writing and joining our financial consultant part-time.
