Ok...I haven't posted in awhile. I lurk more than I post anway. But honeslty, I haven't even been lurking lately. A couple of months ago I quit reading because it was making me down about my progress. And when I didn't read...I was very happy with my progress. I came in to browse today. I have been feeling great. Getting tons of compliments... and honestly forgotten how depressed this board made me! And I didn't expect it. But it depresses me still! It looks from reading your posts and profiles that most of you are within say 10 or LESS lbs of your goal weight! I am wondering...are there other lurkers out there who have further to go (like me?) I have lost 85 lbs to date and have about 29 lbs to go until I reach my personal goal weight (Which is only about 3 lbs above the top of the "normal" weight range for my height) I wear about a size 14 jeans and a size Large top. I can wear some Med tops--but many are too tight in the boobs. I am just a few lbs above being just "overweight" from the BMI number. And I am feeling awesome! My Doctor said that I will continue to loose good amounts per month through July (about 5 lbs or so) and still small amounts for about 6 months after that. So he feels my goal is within my reach! My labs look great. But why is it I am feeling like a failure. I started out as a "lightweight" and expected to do better than average. I feel like I am WAY behind where I "should" be. So how much do most of you have left to loose? Linda

Hi Linda, This is really strange but I started at the exact same weight as you, 259 and had surgery the same exact date as you 7/26/05 and have lost one pound less than you.. 84 pounds as of today!!! How crazy is that???? I am however only 5 feet tall so I would like my goal weight to be 125 so I am still 50 pounds from goal. The only differce we share is that although I do find that I lose slower than the others on this board.. i let it inspire me rather than depress me.. I know we are all different and I am doing what I should be doing so i don't let anything bother me. Good luck with your journey and i'm sure we will all end up at the same place...at the finish line! ' Shannan

Girl, you are doing great ... don't let the board depress you, use it for support!! I'm about 60lbs from goal, much father than you, but again, I feel better and look alot better ... although I'm not gonna lie to you, I too sometimes get a little down when I read how fast others are loosing or how close they are to goal!! I was a heavy weight (318lbs) and I'm supposed to loose fast, but I've been standing still on and off the past few months and probably only loose 1lbs a week. I'm now trying to change my eating and add more exercise to see if that helps with the weightloss. My goal is to be 160lbs by October 1, 2006, which means I need to loose 10lbs a month in the next 6 months ... ugh!!!! Good luck, keep your head up and please don't be depressed ... we are not failures, we are different it takes us a little longer!!

Linda - I post here some but lurk a lot more. I too have been depressed reading the boards but I just suck it up and go on. I started at 268, I currently weigh 155 and have a least 25 pounds to get to my goal and 30 to 35 to get to my doctors goal. I am starting to give up hope of making it down that low but I refuse to cave yet. I will get there and you will be right there with me making it!! Keep up your good work, do not be sad by loss, only happy thoughts!!!

Hi Linda, I had my surgery the 25th of July and Ive only lost 86 lbs according to my Dr. scales. At home it says 88 lbs - so I like mine better. According to my medically recommended weight, I am suppose to weigh 118 for my height ( 5'2), so if that is the case I would have 19 lbs more to loose. I think I would be happy to be at 125 or 130 though. I think youre doing great, please dont let anyone here discourage you or bring you down... youre doing awesome !!! /hugs ~ Aly

Linda, Hello there fellow 26'er. I'm a lurker too and I also get depressed when read how much faster others are losing and add to that the fact that I have only lost 2 lbs in the last two months. Talk about plateau hell!! I started out at 288 and have been 203 for the last two months for a total loss of 85 lbs. Funny when you read a few of the post here at least three of us are right at 85 lbs lost. As far as goal I would at least like to get to 150lbs but 140 would even be better. At this point I'm doing everything I can. I cut out almost all simple carbs, increased my protein, water and exercise. What else can I do? I'm just trying to not go with frustration. I too feel way behind where I should be. I see others who started out the same weight as I did within a few pounds and most of them have lost close to 30lbs more than me. How depressing is that? Take care, Amy

I have "only" lost 75lbs--but even though I sometimes get discouraged too, I just keep plugging away-I think sometimes that we slow losers just don't post about it, so we don't realize there are alot of us out there! I need to lose 20 more lbs to be considered a "normal" weight. I try to focus on how much better I feel since the surgery-no more diabetes meds, only 1/2 a blood pressure pill, and my cholesterol is normal! My feet don't kill me at the end of the day, and I can exercise after work without feeling like I am going to die!! So try to focus on the positive, and hang in there-it WILL come off. Debbie

linda- I am so sorry this board depresses you! I am a slow loser/light weight what ever, and I find it inspiring. You have to remember we all lose lose at different paces and we can't compare ourselves to each other. I have lost 84 pounds (only 78 since surgery) and have about 20 pounds to go till goal. I am very pleased with myself because I haven't been this thin since college, because my health is so much improved and because I can do things I haven't been able to do in years. I hope you post on the board again-- You have done really well, and you should be proud of yourself. If you are doing everything correctly, you are a success! Hugs, Andrea

I'm still 28 pds from goal myself. I've been at a stand still for the past few weeks. I know how you feel. I too think I should have been AT goal by now. My Dr. says I should be there by July 20th my 1 year anniversary but I'm wondering if I'll even make it to that! I know I have to change some things or i'll never make it. Becky 288/188/160 -100

Linda i know the depressing feeling. It feels like the rest of the wt will never come off. I started out at 286 . And for the last few weeks I have not lost anything. So I have lost 86 pounds. And still have another 60 pounds to goal. I had my surgery on july 28 th. I am 5'10. I work five days a week for a hour. So what I am going to try and do is eat all different types of fish and increase my water, and eat only green veggies. And start walking four miles a day when the weather gets a little bit nicer out over here. That is one reason why I have not meet to many on the oh boards and not gone to any of the out of town support things,. Because imo it just to depressing to know. That ppl are doing alot better than me. i am very happy for everyone and am very glad that they are all doing wonderful. taichi
