It really eats at me.....
I know its not right to get aggrivated...but it just gets me ticked at how women lose weight so much slower then men. It just burns me. The weight just flies right off of them, and we work at it just as hard! Honestly, there's not one man ive seen who has had WLS that has been a slow loser...not one! Women really have the short end of the stick all the way around. We get our periods, have to give birth, are slow losers......just to name a few. Just once I'd like for a man to have a period....WITH CRAMPS!
Wishin I had a third leg........
Tiffany
You aren't kiddin' !!!!!!!!!!
I am right there with ya Tiffany! My visitor is due any day, and I am sick of these back pains already. I actually look forward to it starting because the back pain is completely gone once it does. But then, I become very moody during the time it is here. We just can't win for losing can we? Da** Adam and Eve, look at what they did to us...
Mandie
LOL. Your a riot Mandy. Of all people on the board, I relate to you the most. We were both about the same at the beginning of our journeys and I notice a lot of similarities with my journey as yours. A lot of the people are so close to goal.....Im still sooooo soooo far....but hopefully I will reach it!!
Tif,
Yep, it can be a real b*tch sometimes, BUT....................
I really love the guys on our board and don't want them to feel like we are ganging up on them so I'm trying to take a neutral stance on this.
It's not fair to YOURSELF to compare your loss to that of the mens. Their basic physical make-up is so different that it's an apples and oranges type deal. They have higher metabolisms and a much higher percentage of muscle mass. And as we all know, muscle is the tool that burns the fat. In fairness, they do typically have more to lose than us girls so it's possible for it to take about the same amount of time to reach goal.
Let's take our own sweet Tim as an example. He has lost 184 lbs so far in seven months (WTG TIM!!) Now most of us girls never had that much to lose in the first place (I said MOST), but he is not done losing and yet we already have a few of the women at goal or really close to it. I keep in close contact with a few of the men at OH and the ones *****ally have great success do, in fact, have some sort of exercise/weightlifting routine. They DO work really hard at it. In fact, they are religous about it. If you check out the mens board right now, you will notice that they have a great way of supporting each other and staying accountable to one another for their intake/output. They also post exercise challenges which they respond well to.
Women also tend to have a stronger emotional connection to food that is harder to overcome. What can I say....we are just more emotional. (I'm the biggest boob of us all!) We also have a harder time sticking to an exercise routine. I'm just talking percentages here, not specific people.
As far as periods go........Hell yeah, you're right!
As far a child birth goes....... I DO remember feeling very resentful towards my husband while I was in the middle of back breaking labor which was interupted by the slicing open of my stomach to get my dying baby out!! But when they told us that he could die...it was no cake walk for my sweet husband. He still gets teary about it when it comes up. BTW....my son is fine.
I DO know what you mean about being aggrivated, but they really do have their own issues to contend with.
We love our guys!! The ones at home and the ones here on OH!!
We also love our girls!!
Loves to you Tiffany. You are doing a great job with your loss!!!
C
Aww....i totally didnt mean to come off rude to the men. No doubt that they work hard at their weight loss...(Congrats to you guys out there!). I just am so damn envious of it. GRRR. I guess as long as it comes off (even if its slower than a turtle) I shouldnt complain, even though I still have 100 more lbs to go. .
I have to go recouperate. I just hurled up an apple. Go figure...of all things, the only thing that makes me vomit is apples. I try so hard to chew them well..but nope...up it comes. Applesauce is ok though , but sometimes you just want a nice crisp apple.....I guess there at the top of my "do not eat" list.
