Worried

Okay- I am worried now. Last week I gained a pound, this week I gained a pound. I started weighing myself to keep an eye on it and today I was 178.8 (+2.5) .I am totally freaking out. I am under a 1100 calories a day, protein is averaging about 60 grams; drinking water and exercising. I even switched from the elipitcal and dance class to spinning to try to kick my body back into lose mode. What if I keep gaining like I have on every other avenue I have tried. I am totally freaking out.

Andrea darlin' there is no way you are going to keep gaining .. YOU HAD WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY ONLY 7 MONTHS AGO!!! Our bodies are constanly readjusting themselves. You are exercising, eating right, and keeping track of your weight. You are doing all the right things.. The losing will start again. It has to. Take into consideration water weight gain, time of the month, muscle gain with exercise.. I bet you have lost inches on your body in the past 2 weeks havent you? We go into this surgery know ing that there might be stalls along the way and when they happen they are very scary.. I have them to.. But I refuse to believe that any of us at 7 months out have just stopped losing.. It is much, much too soon especially if you are using this tool well and I think you are.. Relax honey..It will happen... peace Mo 290/200/150?

Thanks for the pep talk-- Sorry to freak out-- Not losing wouldn't bother me, but the weight gain totally got me nuts. Thanks again sweetie. andrea

andrea, i am having the same problem so don't feel like you are alone. i was down to 243 and now i am up to 248!!!! my only consulation is that i am back with my trainer and i am doing more weight resistance training whereas for the previous couple weeks i had my wisdom teeth pulled and then i had a sinus infection so i wasn't working out and i tend to lose faster when i am doing just cardio or NOT working out at all. i guess i build muscle fast. i am getting a little more protein than you but my calories and such are the same as you so that has to be it. good luck and i hope we both get the scale moving in the GOOD direction soon. yikes! brandy

Okay sweet Andrea~ I re-read my reply and it didn't come accross how I meant it. It was a little dry and matter of fact. What I was trying to say is that because your calories are still low and it appears that you are meeting your other requirements-you have just stalled, not re-gained. I Can't imagine that you could have gained ANY fat at this point. I was just trying to put some hard facts out there and it came across as a bit preachy. And I, of all people, have no reason to preach!! For heaven's sake, I have had a total or 415 calories in the last 48 hours. So........I have my own problems! I think that you are down so low in your weight now that you are at that "struggle for every pound" stage. Hold the course babe!! You're workin it girl!! Hey~Thanks for the card!!! It absolutely made my day!!! What a great idea and it was extremely thoughtful!! You're a doll babe!! C

Not to preachy, and I didn't take it the wrong way-- It is helpful to have those facts-- Thanks for your support either way.

Okay sweetie-no fluff from me today. Only nuts and bolts. It takes a defecit of 3500 calories to lose a pound and an excess of 3500 to gain a pound. OK... Now.......If you burn 2500 everyday doing nothing and burn 300 everyday with some sort of exercise that is 2800 calories 2800 calories "in" 1100 carloies "out" -------------- 1700 defecit per day (plus malabsorption) at this rate it should take you just over two days to lose 1 lb, BUT!!!! You can have as much as 4 lbs of extra fluid and a few lbs of waste in your body at any given time. AND the ladies have a particularly hard time with those fluctuating hormones. We have all heard it a hundred times, but stalls are a natural and expected part of this process. Of course, it only sucks to hear it when you are the one on stall. Believe me!! It's hard to think of this in logical terms when the scale is telling you differently!! It sounds like you are doing everything correctly so just ride it out!!! Love ya babe, C

Andrea - I am right there with you I think that we are all at the same stage right now and our bodies are readjusting and we will get through this! Focus and maybe start to journal, that may help you out a bit. ((((((((HUGS))))))))) Nancy

Don't really have much to add to the wise words that have already been spoken- but I'm right there with ya. Lose a pound, gain 2 pounds, it's frustrating BUT- I know we're not done- no way!! Not unless you were eating 3500 calories a day and I know you can't be. Hang tight and know that you're not alone!!
