Are you dating?
Ok, question for all you July-single-babies out there.
All this reminicing about my pre-school sexual escapades has gotten me thinking--
Have you been dating since the operation? I just started to in December, and it is the first time I have been on a date for about 4 years.... It's been a LOOOONG time (TMI, I know).
I am kind of embarassed asking all this, but you guys are like family. How do you handle it? The whole process freaks me out-- When do I tell them about the WLS surgery- what do I say about the scars if anythign gets that far, What about all the floppy skin? How do I act? I feel like a 16 year old again.
And if you are dating, where are you finding these luscious men or women? My experiences on Jdate.com and eharmony have been so-so. A few dates, but no one to write home about.
Would appreciate your input or thoughts (even from those of you who are happily married)
im not single, but I figure i would put my two cents in.
I always think that the best way to meet someone is through a mutual friend. Usually the friend knows you both pretty well and would know if you would "click" with the other. And, at least you know there not a wack-a-doo (well, they still may turn out to be but you have a better chance of them not being).
I've been on a few dates and have told them at different times. Depending on how the dates are going. The other realization that has come to mind is that dating sucked when I was heavy and it still sucks.
Neither friends or Eharmony has worked for me either. I had a friend set me up with someone, that didn't go well. My doctors program strongly suggests that you don't drink alcohol for 1 year, I shared this with my date and she figured this meant I was a potential alcoholic.
I don't know how to find the right one but I guess when it happens it will happen. Of course if any of you knows any women in the Minneapolis area, LET ME KNOW!
Andrea,
I know two really nice guys in NYC--Oh wait...they're gay!
So...nevermind-unless that doesn't bother you!
You want to hear something sappy?
My hubby and I were set up by our parents!! How goofy is that?!?!
Well.....I'll be damned if they didn't know what they were doing!!
Good luck darlin!!!! It sucks-I remember!!

Andrea, I spent most of my life living in New York City.( well, being from Florida now.. where else would I be from?) And it was dare I took from a friend that led me to my husband.. She dared me to go visit a goodlooking friend of hers.. ( My Hubby) knowing that his girlfriend at the time was in his apartment.. I went, we met .. the rest is history....we fell in .. Just be open to everything.. a chance encounter can lead you to the right guy.. and In New york that can happen as easily at the drycleaners as at a singles party..Hey! I hear hey trhow some kind of singles thing each weekend at Tavern on the Green in Central Park.. ( I had my wedding reception there in 1989) .. anyway good luck sweetie.. and in the mean time.. here's the Guy. To heat things up!!!
peace
