My body is mean to me (xpost from MN)
I think my body hates me.
On February 1, I weighed 204, and I walked around crowing that I would likely be under 200 by Valentine's Day. Then I re-started my strength training program, which had dwindled to nothing over fall and the holidays. Since my nose was running, I didn't go to the Y, and instead did a lower body workout at home (lunges, deep squats, leg lifts, mule kicks, etc.). I was oblivious to how hard a workout I was getting.
The next day I woke up to a 2.8 lb gain, and muscles that were so sore my neighbors felt it. I was very sore for the next 3 days, and still a little bit today. And the damn 2.8 lbs is still there! Some if not all of that gain must be water retention due to muscle swelling and the healing process - I remember from the long ago past that a temporary weight gain after a hard workout is common for me. But really! 2.8 lbs and it's still there four days later! Temporary is over now, stupid body. Waaaah!
Franziska,
Hey there little lady! Don't ever be afraid to build muscle. It creates a fat burning machine!!! The bigger the muscles the more fat that they will burn. This is one of the reasons men lose so much faster than us girls. I have been working out like crazy lately and have only lost two lbs in the last two weeks, BUT I went down a whole dress size. I figure that people can't see the number on the scale, but they will definately notice my sexy new butt!!
No, not a stupid body (that made my laugh)!!! it's just doing what you are telling it to do--build muscle/burn fat!!! I think it's great! Keep it up!
